Just thinking about what we could do with a billion dollars a day that doesn’t include bombing people.

EXCLUSIVE: At more than 30 installations, U.S. commanders told troops the war on Iran is a Christian war.

The Military Religious Freedom Foundation has been β€œinundated” with more than 110 complaints.

This is what happens when Christian Nationalism infiltrates the government
This is what happens when Christian Nationalism infiltrates the government YouTube video by Congressman Jared Huffman

Our troops are being told that war with Iran is part of a biblical prophecy for Armageddon that Trump was anointed by God to carry out.

This is what happens when Christian Nationalism infiltrates the government. And people are dying because of it.

So, in launching a huge bombing campaign on Iran they apparently didn't plan for:

- Who takes over;
- Interceptor shortages from sustained drone retaliation;
- How to defend US bases in the region;
- Threats to ships in the Strait of Hormuz; and
- How to evacuate Americans with airspace closed.

User Chris: What was the core difference why you think the DoW accepted OpenAI but not Anthropic

Sam Altman:
I can't speak for them, but to speculate with the best understanding of the situation.

*First, I saw reporting that they were extremely close on a deal, and for much of the time both sides really wanted to reach one. I have seen what happens in tense negotiations when things get stressed and deteriorate super fast, and I could believe that was a large part of what happened here.

*We believe in a layered approach to safety--building a safety stack, deploying FDEs and having our safety and alignment researcher involved, deploying via cloud, working directly with the DoW. Anthropic seemed more focused on specific prohibitions in the contract, rather than citing applicable laws, which we felt comfortable with. We feel that it it's very important to build safe system, and although documents are also important, I'd clearly rather rely on technical safeguards if I only had to pick one.

*We and the DoW got comfortable with the contractual language, but I can understand other people would have a different opinion here.

*I think Anthropic may have wanted more operational control than we did

I saw some folks asking what the difference was between what OpenAI signed with the DoD and what Anthropic said they wanted, and Sam more or less admits here the key point: OpenAI's deal requires them to trust the NSA. Anthropic's contract had real safeguards.

There are several ways a dictatorship can transition to a democracy. A foreign power assassinating the dictator in an unprovoked war isn't one of them.

It’s insane that such questions as β€œhow much killing will we let the killer robots do on their own” are being hashed out as back-room handshakes between the military and its AI contractors in the first place. lnk.thebulwark.com/4rzYBkf

One of Trump’s cruelest policies yet has received almost zero attention ο»ΏAmerica’s slaughterhouses could become even more dangerous for workers and animals.

The USDA proposed a rule to allow meat plants for pork and poultry to increase the speed of the kills lines that process chicken, turkey, and pork. While simultaneously relaxing rules for prevention of salmonella. The higher speed w/o increased staffing will cause more injury and sloppy processing.

It is very hard not to have a safe choice to use the bathroom in public.

It may be impossible to continue living, working, eating, etc without a valid driver's license if your life was built around driving and the assumption that your license wouldn't be invalidated overnight by the legislature.
