I told the mycelia about you and it wanted me to tell you to not worry about today. They said “just absorb nutrients for now, you’ll grow big mushrooms later when the weather is right and your roots are ready”

Black and white etching-style triptych showing 8 hours for work on the left, 8 hours for rest in the middle, and 8 hours for “what we will” on the right
Did you know the “weekend” and working only 8 hours per day used to be considered a radical, liberal idea?
139 years ago today, in Bay View, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 7 workers (including a 13 yo) lost their lives to advance this revolutionary idea.

A large (approximately 4 inch/10 cm) white egg on a background of dark, damp soil
I raked this up while trying to remove grass debris from a raised bed in my new garden. Did some creature steal and bury a goose egg??

If you are National Guard or active duty military & you are ordered to violate the Constitutional rights of your fellow Americans, call the Gl Rights Hotline 1-877-447-4487
There is support, you don't have to go through with it.

I've managed to live without Amazon. I used to get Amazon deliveries practically daily. Now I just plan ahead a little and order stuff direct. I realized I put up with a lot of shitty products I don't even really need just because they were shipped to me quickly

Libraries are great centers of support for people in so many ways. Example, this food resources pamphlet right in front: -English publichealthmdc.com/documents/fo...
-Español publichealthmdc.com/documents/fo...

I second the wool suggestion, or maybe needles that have more grip on the slippy yarn? I also might try grabbing a DPN for working the bobble and sticking a stopper on the other (inactive) needle. Sending good vibes!

Agreed, plus the exhaustion from navigating a complex world. When I try to discuss alternatives, it usually comes off as proselytizing for a moral position, but I really wish I had a convincing way to demonstrate that disconnecting from “convenience” helped me beat apathy, dissociation, emptiness.

The basic formula for peasant meals is grain + legume + flavor/micronutrients. Beans and rice plus whatever produce tastes good sautéed in butter or olive oil and chucked on top of a serving and voilà.

My easy veggie helpful tip: last summer, I learned about eating sweet potato leaves from a farmer’s market vendor who grows a lot of veg that’s popular for Hmong dishes. The leaves are delicious in most settings where I would use spinach or kale and those things grow a ton!

Voters Reject Anti-Trans Ads And Elon Musk In Wisconsin Supreme Court Election
Despite millions of dollars spent by Elon Musk and spent on anti-transgender advertisements, liberal judge Susan Crawford wins the Wisconsin Supreme Court election.
1. On Tuesday, voters rejected anti-trans ads, Elon Musk by electing Susan Crawford to the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
It was supposed to be close. She won by 10 points.

REMINDER: Wisconsin has same-day voter registration.
So, if you haven’t registered or recently moved or anything like that, you can register at your polling place (with ID and proof of residence) TODAY.
Every state should do this. It’s great that Wisconsin does this. Go vote.
