I grew up on the north east coast of Britain and I used to hear foghorns throughout my childhood. Now I hear freight train horns.

Touretteโ€™s syndrome tests the limits of acceptance โ€“ Iโ€™ve struggled with it for 30 years | Leyland Cecco The anger toward John Davidsonโ€™s racist Baftas outburst is understandable. But Iโ€™ve had to ask what I owe to others with the condition

Good and brave piece on Tourette's by the Guardian's Canada correspondent whom I have enjoyed for years and had wondered why he never does videos or interviews.

Beauty is not a luxury; rather it is a way of creating possibility in the space of enclosure, a radical art of subsistence, an embrace of our terribleness, a transfiguration of the given. It is a will to adorn, a proclivity to the baroque, and the love of too much.

How Much Worse Could the Internet Get? Cory Doctorowโ€™s โ€œEnshittificationโ€ is premised on the idea that we created a technological marvel and then corporate greed ruined it. But what if that is not the case?

โ€œDigital computing was an extraordinary invention; the constellation of technologies we now just call โ€™the internetโ€™ even more so โ€ฆ But the question that Enshittification doesnโ€™t ask, doesnโ€™t want to ask, is what if none of this was a good idea to begin with?โ€

This is, of course, true, but Canadians managed it to a degree. Donโ€™t buy Jack Danielโ€™s though, donโ€™t visit the US, donโ€™t fly on US carriers, donโ€™t import direct from the US. Donโ€™t use cruise ships registered in the US. Ban X. Iโ€™m an amateur astronomer & I wouldnโ€™t buy a US made telescope now.
