Dear collegues and friends, I will be shortly in #Kazakhstan for a CapsUnlock #China-#CentralAsia 🇨🇳 conference in Almaty start of next week. It’s just a couple of days sadly but happy to meet for a quick catch up! 🇰🇿 Thank you @tlegen.bsky.social and Aida Aidarkulova for inviting me!
Exciting to see an article on #CentralAsia and #Uzbekistan as the top trending research on an international journal like Globalizations! Make sure to share research on the area widely, to support the relevance of Central Asia research for future funding.

Across Asia, Africa and Latin America, new forms of globalism are appearing. South-South production is booming, aided by China's technological power. Enhanced power and voice from postcolonial regions, at both global and local levels, demand change and redistribution.
From the weak sanction regime for #Russia's invasion of #Ukraine, to full support of Israel's #GenocideinGaza, double standards, nationalism, and protectionism reveal the frailty of Western hegemony. Yet, this is not the end of global political institutions and globalisation.
The new normal is reglobalisation! In @thediplomat.com, I argue that the Global South is redrawing the world economy while the West struggles with moral crisis and protectionism, focus #Uzbekistan.

📢 Great news: I will join @soaspolitics.bsky.social as an ESRC postdoc fellow to turn my PhD into a book. I'll keep working on the political economy of South-South relations, local agency and Uzbekistan-China ties. If you want a preview of the book read my latest: www.tandfonline.com/doi/epdf/10....
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres welcomed the Global Governance Initiative (GGI) proposed by China earlier this week during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Plus meeting, his spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said Thursday.
🚨 The 44th meeting of the SCO Regional Anti Terrorist Structure (RATS) of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) was held at Cholpon Ata, Kyrgyz Republic, on September 10, 2025 strongly condemned the #PahalgamTerrorAttack.

The heads of state and government of China, Russia, and India gave a strong show of unity at the meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation #SCO.
The European press sees a shift in global power relations that is not merely symbolic.
💡At last week's 'Shanghai Cooperation Organization Plus' meeting, Chinese president Xi Jinping said that “China will establish 3 platforms” for cooperation with other SCO members, covering “energy, green industry, and digital economy”.

We've had a staff briefing at Kent from our acting VC and we don't really know any further than has been reported. This is the beginning of a process that we've been told will be transparent.
There were lots of questions but no answers yet.
Talk to your colleagues. We are stronger together.
