It’s time that we ban right turns on red citywide as an initial step towards building a transportation network that prioritizes people.
Traffic safety is frequently identified as the top public safety concern, and yet it has not been given the necessary attention and policy action to make meaningful change. We can't continue to be shocked and appalled by these incidents—we need to act.
Last night, two community members were hit by drivers in two separate instances while walking in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. We have since learned that one of them has passed away. This is devastating, and my heart is with these community members, their friends, and their families.

Our office fought to increase investment into the Fresh Bucks program so more Seattle residents can get access to fresh foods in the wake of cuts to SNAP.
Thanks to Seattle voters for passing the Seattle Shield Initiative to make this expansion possible!
