So to see a show have a satisfying ending not only feels satisfying at a base level, but it also has this meta layer of โwe are lucky to have gotten this at all.โ And for a show as abnormal as home movies was, it feels doubly shocking.
Of course, some amount of shows will always be cancelled. But there are a finite number of shows that have ever been on tv which also have a satisfying ending. Its such a shame that making a tv show costs so much money. Its also a shame that some things work best in this format.
One of the things i find so surprising about home movies was that they were able to finish the show. They made a lot of episodes and were able to finish it satisfyingly. It is a little shocking to me considering how many tv shows end up getting canned before they can accomplish this.
