Corporate America has only had 3 decades to decimate that legacy. They're lagging a bit with this one.

I totally want to try this, but I think I'm obligated to consider this a border attack on our official state snack and our bow-tied popcorn icon.
And we should seriously fire the guy who forgot to name this ride and defaulted to the start/end town.
I will likely be there, but only as moral and technical support, unless my physical therapy actually fixes this body in the next 2 weeks.
Got a brand new ride coming up at the end of the month for this year's 200k. It's a classic southern Indiana ride with lots of hills, forests, and farmland. It also hits such exciting places as Oolitic, Beam Blossom, and Gnaw Bone!

Although I'm still recovering and questionable to ride this weekend, Indiana Randos starts 2026 with the International Women's Day 100k from Teay's brewery in Lafayette, IN this Saturday.
A slight risk of storms and a heavy wind might make this interesting.
So....I still need my 200k+ for Feb. I have a 15 month streak in progress.
My shoulder, which I damaged severely on my Jan ride, was tested and survived the Feb 100k, barely. PT has improved it a bit, but I really need more time.
February has 3 days left.
Streak vs Shoulder.
Dude, it's a German light. They have standards there. Bike lights are cutoff beam so you ain't blinding people unless you're trying.
I find it amazing how we consistently don't even know where our own infrastructure is.
Wooo! I got our new 200k route approved. This new route loops from Bloomington, IN similar to our Breaking Away 300k and will (temporarily) replace the Indy-Story-Indy 200k.
We'll be riding it near the end of March!
ODL I wasted sooo much time on those.
Long bike rides are a great way to get some alone time with my head. There's a little math "when am I gonna get to the coffee shop", some lovely scenery, and nice rivers and forests.
Until an earworm shows up.
Especially if that earworm happens to be Wheeler Walker Jr.
No problem detected.
On long rides, one needs lots of food. One of my friends turned me onto "unicorn food", or Nerds Gummy Clusters.
They be good mid-ride. Really good.
Did you make enough for everybody?
On the 100km ride today, the shoulder was not cooperative with lots of shooting pain.
The lower back decided to join in and every 10 miles or so I had to stop and stretch it out.
In short, despite the perfect conditions (low wind, 55 degrees F), it was positively brutal.
And I'd do it again.
Holding a bottle of Warka.
Knocked out my February 100k (P-28). My shoulder has not recovered from the January crash and it was not afraid of letting me know that.
I'm starting to feel every bit of an old man now.
I caught some raised crosswalks the other day near Carmel/Zionsville, so it appears the message is getting out!
Already suffering from "cycling shoulder" due to an impressive crash on an icy trail a few weeks ago, I decided to give "COVID shot shoulder" to my other shoulder.
I literally cannot reach out to pick anything up.
I should work on this.
Coffeeneuring stickers and patch
Because I ride for the trinkets!
Deer sitting and eating above a basement window well.
View outside my "office". Poor critter has cutaneous fibromas, and the DNR says that it's not an issue for us or the dog. It doesn't appear to have improved in the few weeks it's been hanging around.
In fairness, I train at Purdue football games. It's painful to watch that sober.
Without a dog in this fight, I must notice that Seattle has a far larger Randonneuring community than does Boston.
Rookie
Got the new work laptop. They allow you to change the lock screen image, but require the corporate background image.
What sort of corporate brainwashing is this?
As well you should!
It seems it's more broken than I thought. They're not even going to attempt to re-image it. They're just going to give me a new one.
Mmmm, Vitamin-I. They sell it in 1000 packs for like $5 at Costco. To be enjoyed with your favorite black beverage!
Through some miracle of modern computing, my work Win11 laptop got itself into a bitlocker/BSOD sequence.
The nice man at the IT desk will wipe it and re-image it, and has presented me a loaner. It's effectively a glorified tablet, but at least I have my email and a browser.
BSODs still exist.
Riders were lucky here that the driver didn't just swerve into them.
