I mean... yeah. That's what they are.
I am once again tapping the "support independent, worker-owned, billionaire free news" sign. the most powerful people in the world should not be deciding whether or not we know about this sort of thing. putting Marisa's subscription link below
Guess who this asshole voted for?

With Tony Gonzales dropping out of the TX-23 primary, the path is wide open for Brandon Herrera to take the GOP nomination.
Herrera is a YouTuber and firearms manufacturer who has an unhealthy fascination with Hitler and Nazis and a total disregard for those who suffered during the Holocaust.

Kennedy is trying to spin this as "she was irresponsible in spending on ads," but that's nonsense. She was fired because she blamed Trump for that spend. And that's the only offense within the administration.
I teamed up with the good folks at @moreperfectunion.bsky.social to tell the story of UFCβs monopoly and their attempted boxing takeover. Please share far and wide.

Freedonia.
This thread should be the death-knell for Platner's claim that the army didn't ban him for the Nazi tattoo and for his defenders' claims that he didn't know it was a Nazi tattoo.
It's the reason he was barred from re-enlistment, and he knew it.
He's a liar who deliberately kept a Nazi tattoo.
Iβll leave for later why reporters didnβt fact-check - thereβs an ugly story there too. But the urgent issue is, Platner would be crushed in the general. It's best to lance the boil now. Hereβs the document, sourced and Wikipedia-ready. You should read it. The NRSC sure will. 11/
βItβs not real inflation. Itβs all an artifact of the measurements.β is not a great defense, especially when oil prices (a really simple metric) is spiking wildly.
Theyβre going to say βwell, itβs a kinetic war now, but itβs been a cyber war for decadesβ as one of the pretextual justifications.
Surely Republicans, who spent decades crassly singing βBomb Iranβ to the tune of Beach Boys songs would never have launched a war with Iran if not forced to by Netanyahu. Certainly not Donald Trump, who during his first term withdrew from the JCPOA with Iran & assassinated Iranian military leaders.
Republicans donβt care about the troops. They see military service members as props. They cut health care and community support and pensions; they cut food accessibility resources for enlisted members.
Lot of year left to play.
Oil cost situations are getting worse much faster than I expected, and it does seem like targeting oil is part of the Iranian strategy (following Azerbaijan strikes) in addition to US incompetence.
Itβs really frustrating that Anthropic is the most responsible AI company and itβs CEO says ridiculous stuff like this when he should know better.
Exactly right.
The Civil Rights Division was able to show that it took exhaustive (and exhausting) work to litigate even the most obvious violations of the voting rights protections in the 1957 and 1960 acts, which ultimately convinced Congress and then SCOTUS that a much broader law was needed.
Even if it takes years, we have to bring EVERYONE who made this happen to justice. No moving on, no letting this go.
Revenge is good enough motivation for me personally, but the nobler and important reason is to ensure that anyone who thinks of doing this again knows theyβll rot in prison for it.
Stock market tanking again today and oil *way* up. What's crazy is Trump could've just rode out the current regression to the mean on inflation, combined with an apparent productivity boom. Instead, did the opposite of econ 101: kicked out workers, reduced immigration, started wars of choice.
Just know, if you try to override my vetos, you will be primaried.
They think this talking point is a winner. Which shows how utterly stupid they are, and how stupid their base is.
Matt Gaetzβs brother in law.
Quite an opening paragraph.
The prospect of Dems supporting a crimes against humanity tribunal for the Trump administration is heartening. Hopefully others follow Wyden on this.
She gets the quote wrong, but that's not surprising.
What's interesting is it appears in Orwell's Notes on Nationalism, which Noem *definitely* hasn't read.

But even Susie Wiles (who seems totally incompetent) seems to understand that this is a really dangerous position.

Disrupting Hormuz for an indeterminate period of time is probably the worst thing that could happen, and FP and some other outlets are noting that shock hasn't really happened set in yet. (Shipping disruption effects are always delayed by a week or so...)

Ariel Cohen (who knows these markets well) had a piece a week ago in Forbes on why taking from the Venezuelan reserves won't have much impact on global market prices.

The administration can use the SPR to lower prices, and I suspect they will if the price goes up toward $90/b (currently ~$84/b), but TBH the crunch here *plus* the crunch in Venezuela as the post-Maduro gov't struggles could do real damage.
