I just did a more rigorous computation for increasing Earth's albedo (reflectivity) using 92% efficient mirrors.
To get back to year 2000 albedo levels, we only need a band about 84 km wide (42 km North & South of the equator) of mirrors circling the earth.
The more you know!

Pace of global warming has nearly doubled since 2015, reveals study - Carbon Brief

I'm not suggesting this is an open secret within the climate science community, but it's remarkable how little impact this sort of research is generating. Because if the rate of warming really has *doubled* then you can kiss goodbye to 2Β°C. www.carbonbrief.org/pace-of-glob...

Tweet today from Ryan Grim of Drop Site.
"An unarmed Iranian ship was invited, along with the U.S., to be part of an Indian Naval exercise, and its sailors paraded on land before the president.
"The U.S. at the last minute pulled out of the exercise and instead attacked the Iranian ship with a torpedo.
Breaking with all norms of civilization and warfare, we then refused to rescue the drowning survivors. The Sri Lanka Navy was left to pull the dead bodies from the water.
"I am hard pressed to think of any other nation throughout history that would do something so cowardly and despicable. We are genuinely in a league of our own, and American media β mostly shrugging off the bombing of a girls school and acting as if carpet bombing Tehran is a normal military tactic β is deeply complicit."
Decent summary from Drop Site News. Misses the Australian 'contribution' (three of the submariners were Royal Australian Navy).

It's a feature of unlimited economic (capital) expansion.
To date, population hasn't been decoupled from global GDP, same as with energy and material throughput.
Capitalism demands a larger and larger pool of losers from whom fractional advantage can be squeezed.

Western civilisation is not worth saving
Western civilisation is not worth saving. I think thatβs been pretty well established by now.
"This civilisation is genocidal. Ecocidal. Omnicidal. Imperialist. Racist. Dehumanising. Degrading. Dystopian. Emotionally stunted. Culturally vapid. Spiritually impoverished. Intellectually enslaved. Why would any sane person want this to continue?"

US asked Ukraine for help fighting Iranian drones, Zelensky says
Ukraine's president says Kyiv will only help if doing so does not deplete its own air defences.
"The US has asked Ukraine for help defending Gulf allies against Iranian drones, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky."
"He suggested, in particular, that Ukraine would be willing to swap its interceptor drones for more US Patriot air defences to protect against Russian ballistic missiles."

Roughly 44% of global sulphur, 31% of urea, 18% ammonia, 15% of phosphates & 20% of LNG are shipped through the Strait of Hormuz.
This will have immediate implications for fertiliser supply chains & farm input costs everywhere.
LNG is a key feedstock for ammonia & urea production via Haber-Bosch

True about China & SE Asia, but closure will cause a global economic shock and oil deficit, raising prices for everyone. Then there's LNG. 1/3 of global fertilisers apparently go through Strait. Ships being diverted, so delays & $$. Saudi Arabia & UAE have pipelines, but capacity is only ~4β5 mb/d.

I've read the net effect of the 1973 oil embargo was ~7-14% of global oil consumption after increased production & 3rd party re-sales. Shortages made worse by government price control & allocation policies. 1973 unfolded over months. Total energy supply effected now includes LNG & was very sudden.
