This says more about me than about either of these games, but Esoteric Ebb gives me what I hoped to find in Baldur's Gate 3.
gundam fandom is wild. ill tweet "i think char should wreck amuro in the dijeh cockpit" and the first comment will be "man i love how the dijeh mixes elements of federation design like the vents with the classic zeon monoeye i never thought about it but you're totally right, the dijeh is basically a fusion of a high spec gm and a gelgoog
Black and white photo of a british ww2 minesweeper, who looks like she could pass as french with a bit of posh makeup and a nice dress.
As mines are in the news:
Meet HMS Manxman. Spent a chunk of 1941/1942 laying mines off Italy in WW2.
Why wasn't she sunk?
Looked like a Vichy destroyer if you squinted. So they did a "paint me like one of your French girls" on her.
Extra funnel. Fake bow.

Pretty crazy how important the blockade of a trade route is right now

WG: Well, the thing that I would question in that theory as you paraphrased it is that women's bodies are the map; I think bodies are the map, and if, for instance, you looked at the sequence in Mona Lisa Overdrive where what's. her-name, the little thing... I forget her name... Mona! Yeah, Mona. TM: (laughing) Your title character, remember? WG: Jesus, I can't remember the characters' names... I never think about this shit. (laughing) That's what I think you gotta understand.

tenchi masaki from tenchi muyo dressed in a grey schoolgirl uniform walks through a scifi scanner thingie
a computer screen showing his skeleton and a DNA strand, captioned dialog reads "everything looks okay"
the space cop or whatever says "but did you know your frame is very masculine?"
tenchi says "uh, i... have a father who's a man"
it's a pleasant surprise if you find a crossdressing character in a 90s anime and the joke being told is funny

The superpowers thing is the weakest part of it, but the rest is a lovely story about acting and friendship and the like. And Hollywood, of course.
So Philip Glass just joined TikTok. He only has like 4 posts and they’re simply him in what I assume is his living room playing the piano. First comment on one I saw was “your piano is too close to the fireplace, you’ll dry it out” and if that’s not the internet in a nutshell I don’t know what is.
Maybe it was an exorcism?
Very early on in Esoteric Ebb I had the difficulty for an attribute check lowered because my cleric was too stupid (failed a previous intelligence roll) to realise he was unsuited to the task.
And that was my first inkling that this game was doing the Disco Elysium formula right.
The game still provides these moments - if you play risky decks that reward fast thinking. And if you're lucky.
It's a card game, there's luck involved in every match, but there are plenty of safe decks where the goal is to do the same thing every time.
I try to avoid them to have fun.
I think I fell in love with the game back in the beta, when I've played Armor (protects cards from being destroyed) at Death's Domain (destroys cards played there), and in the last turn I've played Enchantress, who removed Armor's ability. The enemy's cards were revealed after mine and died. I won.
So while we started with just two, on reveal and ongoing, we're now up to 6 - on reveal, ongoing, game start, end of turn, activate and objective.
They've also set upon releasing about six new cards every month.
But at least they fix the game fast when they release something truly broken.
You still have only 12 cards in your deck. Except some card add cards to your deck. Some of them are random, some are not. If you really wanted, you could have a deck of... 34, mostly random cards, if I've counted that right. I probably didn't.
They've just introduced a new keyword.
I still play Marvel Snap every day. I still have fun. I'm not sure I'd recommend it to a new player, though. What was a fast, simple but deep-ish game - a deck of 12 cards, two keywords for ability types, go - became, well, less so.
*attenborough voice* the rapacious financial backers of the live-service video game, frustrated by the fledgling's inability to interest 100,000s of players immediately post-launch, turns quickly against its own young. the market is a harsh and unforgiving environment, layoffs an inevitable outcome
SUSAN STORM: ooooh big stretch
REED RICHARDS: What’s that?
SUSAN STORM: nothing. Nothing

"No stupid rules of engagement" is how you shoot down three of your own F-15s in one day. Just a shocking display of martial ineptitude.

Give a listen to A More Civilized Age episodes covering KOTOR as you go along, makes for a fun book club experience.
The most obvious way to follow up on the series would be to show the consequences of the ending scene.
Which is why I hope if they continue the story in any form, they'll Galaxy Quest him. The old movie was based on a true story or something and now the new actor has to become a space hero.
Finally finished Wonder Man. It would be glib to say that the MCU finally went to an acting class, but I can be glib sometimes, so.
The superpowers&Damage Control stuff is the weakest thing about it, but the struggle of an overzealous, a bit off-putting actor is fantastic.
That might be the most Peter David joke you've ever made.
