The 3,000 acres of land that Griffith J. Griffith gifted to LA makes a stark background for this circa 1937 photo. The Griffith Observatory opened in 1935, so for Angelenos, it was probably still a new sight to see in the night sky. This photo was taken from Los Feliz.
