So I just watched a video of a photographer who spoke about her run in with Rubio (not this photo, at a recent event) and now I can't stop looking at his big ears. Something about a botched ear surgery, blah, blah. Funny how he looks like the tiny man he is in this photo.

IT WORKS!! After a week of building, debugging and fixing spelling errors (90% of my errors are from spelling) my RAG agent, a resource assistant for military vets in Chicago, actually works!! Everything is connected and it runs local! OMG!!

Yes, this is a turnaround from what I was saying for the past year, lol. I'm more about Critical AI Theory, which is pro human and sees AI as a tool, than am I concerned about making AI more humanlike. Why does it need to be humanlike? For free labor? As a shortcut for thinking skills? FOH

AI can't experience life the way we do. It doesn't face any moral stakes, doesn't have vunerability and it certainly doesn't face nor understand consequences. How can it? We can simulate context, but we can't simulate the effects of context. Respect the limits, that's all I aim for.

AI doesn't need emotional intelligence, it needs limits, roles and responsibility. We need to respect it as the tool that it is and not treat it as the ultimate authority on human life. Emotional attunement doesn't equal judgement, wisdom or moral authority. Full stop.

That realization that you've gone off the deep end in your research (in a good way) and you realize your idea of emotional intelligence in AI is a tiny sliver in what could improve in modern AI systems. I need a bigger boat?! or something?

Because what is language when you strip away emotion, affect, ethics, identity, values, meaning? Now it's time for modern AI to add to the foundation he figured out. He really should be more famous in AI circles and yes, Claude from Anthropic is named after him.

I couldn't begin to add emotional intelligence to AI until I understood how we construct language. Claude Shannon did that through the lens of statistics and invented information theory. His work shows the foundation of language and wow.

Claude Shannon didn't reduce language to statistics, he revealed the structural constraints that make language intelligible. I've been reading and he deserves a higher place in AI than what he has now.

The cost of true freedom is giving up proximity to the privileges held by white supremacy.

Being actively anti racist means putting yourself in front of white supremacy and meeting it head on. Challenging it, dismantling it, and doing better for yourself and humanity. We deserve better.
