i forgot to say. tiktok acts seem to be skipping these steps and going straight to majors and i’m curious how it works out for them in the long-term. i’d love to be proven wrong and see them have lasting careers
it can work depending on goals & vision! a distro will help you get playlisted theoretically *if* you’re a priority - ur manager could have a direct connect tho. distro will get physical media into stores internationally. otherwise i think a mngr can hire a great team to get everything else done

sure but i feel like good reads has grown into a monster and could use a little competition
so many ways to do things but the current trend/model for a developing act seems to be moving towards:
self release 1 EP, 1 full-length —> small indie label for 2 LPs —> bigger “indie” for 2 LPs —> distro deal at lower % / self-release again & buy your catalog back. maybe skip step 3 if you can.
