My verdict: Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the most iconic and aesthetically pleasing, and it walked so PokΓ©mon: Pokopia could run. But Pokopia blows it out of the water. A far superior game.
Not only did I get up at 4am to watch silly cars go in circles but @spacesandplaces.bsky.social was the best wife and kept me company. Rest of the day will be spent on Pokopia and writing π₯°

Lovely to be a guest on LBC this morning to talk about the enduring obsession of PokΓ©mon

Thanks so much!!

I did need a break after the thesis though to try and spread my wings so this will be the third monograph I will send to publishers (in the space of 12 months!) and the fourth book overall. It's been a complete whirlwind of writing but I have been thoroughly lucky to get these opportunities
Last night, I signed a contract with McFarland to turn my PhD thesis into a book - The Mutants of Mass Effect. This was my dream when I started the PhD as I always envisioned the final output to be a book to sit in my bookcase!
There are rumours it is considering introducing a 'commercial research exception' for AI training. This would be disastrous. It would mean handing the life's work of British creatives to AI companies for free, to train their models on.

π¨ It looks like the UK government is gearing up to upend copyright law in favour of AI companies, legalising the theft of their work.
This is despite creatives' huge protests, and despite previous proposals being roundly rejected by the public.
Please spread the word.

I was born in an Iranian prison. My parents were held in their jails. My uncles lie in their mass graves. Nothing you can tell me about the crimes of the Iranian regime that I haven't lived in blood and bone. That doesn't mean I want my people bombed, maimed, killed, their homes in ruins. If your vision of liberation comes only through the destruction of innocent lives, then it's not freedom you're after. Sahar Delijani, Iranian author
I am pro Iranian people. I stand with them against their own governmentβs repression AND against the imperial violence in the form of bombs dropped from the sky from Israel & the US who have already killed hundreds.
I support neither imperialism or dictatorship.
Sahar Delijani said it best:
Keir Starmer abandoned net zero to court Reform voters. He failed
I think if I'd gotten away with attempting a coup, suffered no consequences for it, then won an election four years later, got away with executing citizens in the streets and foreigners in boats, and successfully abducted a head of state, I too might think I could just bomb my way to regime change

This lawsuit seems appalling to me, honestly. I feel for people whose student experience was lousy due to Covid but that's not the fault of universities. "I wanted in-person study." I'm sure you did. Nobody gets what they want in a global pandemic

From Andrew, Mandelson, Thiel to Brexit - British democracy has never before been revealed to be so illusionary
Even today news outlets are missing one of the most explosive issues in the Epstein files: the wealthiest in society being implicated in corruption, and the potential systematic destruction of British democracy.
I Am What I Am is a wonderful film that actually represents aromanticism and asexuality well, especially in relation to how people react to these identities.
"AI detectors" are themselves AI, and yet are endlessly trusted by people on here if they say that a newspaper article is AI.
AI detectors are snake oil. None of them reliably works. And UK broadsheet are not yet using AI to write articles. No, that link to the deal you found doesn't prove it.
His writing has always been all over. He did slap a little girl, for example.
