I grew up listening to Tom Lehrer, and I find it really... let's go with frustrating even though that's a gross understatement, I find it frustrating that his song in 1965, literally sixty years ago, is still entirely word for word too relevant today for comfort.

There's even a quote from one of our founding statesmen about this exact thing!

It Wasn't Fascism All Along Conservatism was a distinct ideology but it is dead and it is not coming back.

"Crying about the loss of the middle ground is already becoming cliche, dated, and frankly a little embarrassing"

Never enough queer dungeon core.

(Even if I did get a very pleasant surprise with Dungeon Tour Guide.)

I'm going to guess that this person doesn't think they should go to NoKings and protest alongside the normies as part of the greater whole.

pretty much. and I am extremely concerned that it's going to wind up being, in the medium term, right wing gutter bigotry vs bigotry-but-leftishly, since that's what the Sanders/Oysters McNazi/spreadsheets-are-inherently-fascist wing wants out of the political coalition.

Cursed thought: oh god they would all be going "do I want him or do I want to be him" with Vace except for Vance, who'd be doing it over, sigh, Anemone.

I don't wanna be That Girl but I think you get the better end of the bargain here, there's a reason I used to joke about changing my name to Cassandra.

Oh, my worries are rather more specific than that and also I'm less optimistic about them than I am about that aspect.

One thing about losing two hours of sleep to intrusive thoughts about politics is my predictions tend to be right and there's nothing I can do with that. No November victory can fix what's been broken; it will be the work of decades if we're lucky.

Oh well. I'll keep working towards victory anyway.

If for some reason you're a liberal who is still paying for a subscription to the NYT, WaPo, or the Atlantic, I recommend you give Liberal Currents your money instead.

I’ve seen it said that the conclusive proof for innate sexuality is the continued existence of heterosexual women over the age of 30.

Let's all speculate on the identity of the Liberal Currents whale!

My guesses:

1.) this is how Alan Cole spent his DOGE winnings

2.) JB Pritzer bought it to manufacture consensus that he should be the 2028 nominee.

Very cute! Can be made sporty with a ponytail, severe with a bun, stylized various ways with hair clips/barrettes. My wife's haircut is similar.

I've only been paying real attention to politics for ~25 years and I am absolutely going insane about this.

There's a quality shitpost to be made about how today's chapter of Sky Pride (superlatively good xianxia web serial) has big Karaite energy, but I think approximately zero people will get it so I might just not bother putting in the effort.

04.03.2026 21:45 πŸ‘ 3 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

The first ~25k of my first published web serial (Frameshift) was pure unadulterated spite-driven writing, which didn't improve it as an act of craft over what I'd been working on before but did get me to write 25k words in like a week and actually publish it.

Spite can work, and that rules.

This is weirdly more appropriate than a lot of the mix-ups I've seen. On one hand, we're talking about two completely different religions, and on the other hand, if a Mardi Gras party and a Purim party had booked the same hall you can imagine no one noticing until the next day.

I think that what we might see is a decrease in Jewish turnout, volunteering, electoral action, and donor action even if those of us who do vote continue delivering sky-high Democratic margins.

But yeah. We're a pragmatic bunch. There's no point leaving the tent unless we're fleeing the country.
