Oh, my worries are rather more specific than that and also I'm less optimistic about them than I am about that aspect.

One thing about losing two hours of sleep to intrusive thoughts about politics is my predictions tend to be right and there's nothing I can do with that. No November victory can fix what's been broken; it will be the work of decades if we're lucky.

I've only been paying real attention to politics for ~25 years and I am absolutely going insane about this.

There's a quality shitpost to be made about how today's chapter of Sky Pride (superlatively good xianxia web serial) has big Karaite energy, but I think approximately zero people will get it so I might just not bother putting in the effort.

The first ~25k of my first published web serial (Frameshift) was pure unadulterated spite-driven writing, which didn't improve it as an act of craft over what I'd been working on before but did get me to write 25k words in like a week and actually publish it.

Spite can work, and that rules.

This is weirdly more appropriate than a lot of the mix-ups I've seen. On one hand, we're talking about two completely different religions, and on the other hand, if a Mardi Gras party and a Purim party had booked the same hall you can imagine no one noticing until the next day.

I think that what we might see is a decrease in Jewish turnout, volunteering, electoral action, and donor action even if those of us who do vote continue delivering sky-high Democratic margins.
