This is the one film I'll never shut up about! Has been my favourite since seeing it.
This morning, index.hr published an article citing Dr David Betz of King's College London predicting civil war in Britain. Within minutes, a friend in Croatia was asking me if they should be worried. Perhaps worth reflecting on responsible use of academic credentials.
It makes me wonder if we are expecting too much from individual self-control and habit management, and not asking enough about how the broader ecosystem of devices and services could be reshaped. (6/6)
Nonetheless, these setups remain dominant because they facilitate significant engagement and data flows. (5/6)
The same applies to social media. Much of the experience, like algorithmic feeds and endless free entertainment would arguably would not be missed. Anecdotally, people Iβve talked to usually say they wish they could step away from social media entirely. (4/6)
The hardware reflects the same logic. The large screen is not necessarily the natural end point of usability. The essentials (calls, navigation, music) are already handled well by smartwatches and simpler devices. (3/6)
We all know the usual advice about greyscale, disabling notifications and digital decluttering, yet it is hardly surprising that users lose this battle when the system is designed in large part specifically to capture attention for advertising purposes. (2/6)
Another great listen from the @kingscollegelondon.bsky.social #AKC series. Another point it got me thinking about, and one I feel is generally underplayed is the question of responsible tech design. 𧡠(1/6)

British Rowing cleared to redevelop Sherriffβs Boathouse and add a new one at Redgrave Pinsent Lake in Caversham, despite council objections over increased road traffic. Facilities for world-class rowers to be modernised. Will be great to see it in action.

If you donβt yet exercise, strongly consider starting regular indoor rowing. Itβs not fun, but:
1. Itβs a full body workout, muscle and cardio
2. It can be done in about 20 min/day
3. Itβs not so hard to fit a C2 erg in many homes
4. Itβs low impact and your chance of injury is low
Grateful my son has an English teacher thoughtful enough to assign works on Greek mythology including passages like this.
My article advocating for trust in human adaptability and creativity for resilience in future warfighting is now published in The Journal of the Royal Corps of Signals, page 54.
Could it be CHFPD, with the F/E being an OCR error? CHFPD (CH FPD) could be referring to the Swiss Federal Political Department. This agency was formed in 1848 to deal with foreign policy, and was renamed in 1979 to the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA).
It would make sense for him to be included in an operation involving F-18s.
Jeff Goldberg was likely mistaken for Jeff Goldblum, the satellite expert credited with creating a computer virus that disrupted the aliens' shields and allowed for the destruction of the mothership on July 4, 1996.

5.) Haggle over precise wordings! Jokes aside, absolutely correct. However, the manual wasn't meant for OSS operatives, but for sympathetic Axis citizens to disrupt their workplaces, which might be why itβs described that way.
Watch this. It's based on a true story of what Tomo Buzov did. In time of lawlessness, he tried to fight against it. I write about this event in my book. Now this short film is the Croatian candidate for an Oscar. Watch it: #Film #Oscars www.arte.tv/en/videos/12...
After 9/11, the FBI had only 8 Arabic speakers, one in NYCβAli Soufan, who mightβve prevented the attacks if the CIA had shared intel. Lack of diversity left the CIA unable to place Bin Ladenβs messaging and motives within a cultural context. Plenty of good literature on diversity in intelligence.
