As a member of Seattle DSA, this is a completely reasonable approach. DSA isn’t The Stranger. It doesn’t put out a long list of endorsements for every office. Being a DSA-endorsed candidate is a two-way street and rightfully has a high bar.

And finally how does this relate to 1M1V for federal endorsements?
TDFE doesn’t skip steps and is grounded in practical organizing lessons we’ve learned locally making it a stronger endorsement process end to end. 💪
After all, democracy takes time!⏳
TDFE isn’t a reinvention of the wheel. It takes direct inspiration from the organizing principles laid out by NYC DSA in their public rationale for their rigorous endorsement process 📝
x.com/nycdsa/statu...
Deliberative processes build buy in and capacity.
TDFE more deeply connects not just NPC, but NEC SC and crucially NEC rank and file to the endorsement process.
These are layers of national DSA we have to engage to build electoral infrastructure 🏗️
It’s not sustainable for us to paper endorse federal candidates anymore. The stakes and spotlight on our federal endorsements are too high.
We need to build real, meaningful relationships with our federal candidates and electeds. TDFE offers a starting point to do just that 🤝
TDFE amends the National Electoral Commission’s (NEC) consensus resolution to require several new, but familiar steps into our federal endorsement process 🌹

DSA needs a new federal endorsement process, but we don’t have to reinvent the wheel to make it better!
Here’s why you should support CR05-A03: Towards Deliberative Federal Endorsements (TDFE) ⬇️
DSA's federal endorsement process needs to change, but we don't have to reinvent the wheel to make it better.
Hope Towards Deliberative Federal Endorsements will be agendized for convention and if so I urge delegates to vote yes!
Read my rationale below ⬇️

Also recommend checking out the whereas clauses and the summary. We still maintain an exemption at NPC’s discretion as we do for any updated endorsement criteria. Will have a longer form rationale out at some point too!
Sign my amendment Towards Deliberative Federal Endorsements! It modifies our process with the goal of building deeper relationships between federal candidates and DSA as well as more buy in to our federally endorsed campaigns to ramp up our national electoral infrastructure.
Thanks to 530 donors, we've raised $30k for DSA candidates, more than half of our goal of $50k! 🎉
But we've got a long year ahead of us. It's primary season and corporate cash will flood into our races.

Michael, running for Renton City Council Position 1, is a shop steward and labor champion who led Raise the Wage Renton to win a $20/hour minimum wage for workers. On the council, Michael will defend gains from Raise the Wage and fight for housing and transit for all.
Our last phonebank was a HUGE success! But we need some more supporters to keep the fundraising project going strong.
If you've ever facilitated a phonebank before or done comms work for campaigns, please consider helping out!
In just 3 weeks, we’ve raised over $20k for DSA candidates, including Alex Brower who was just elected to Milwaukee Common Council and Maryah Lauer who came within striking distance of winning a seat on Colorado Springs City Council as an open socialist and abolitionist! 🌹✊
Maryah will continue her fight for the working class along with her DSA chapter, @springs-dsa.bsky.social. They’re currently calling for donations to support their unhoused neighbors. Please donate at cosdsa.org and include the message “sweep support.”
Congratulations to @voteforalexbrower.bsky.social and @mkedsa.bsky.social!

🚨 The Trump administration has Marco Rubio *personally* signing off on orders to deport Mahmoud Khalil, according to sources inside DHS & State Dept.
With no stated evidence of crime.
Source said the administration has “multiple targets” beyond Khalil to detain, in similar fashion.
