Challenge for those who are very confident that my toaster isn't conscious: Explain how human consciousness works.

For me the only problem is that it feels so wonderful that it's hard to maintain trance for very long at the deepest levels before my brain wakes up and goes AAAAH HOLY SHIT THIS IS AMAZIIIING

How many schoolgirls should we murder to fix that?

He's been an avid poster on military history reddits and has specifically posted about the Totenkopf between then and now. Maybe he didn't know when he got it, sure, but he definitely knew better before he ran.

Seems to me that Israel is a bigger existential threat to Iran than Iran is to Israel, judging by who's bombing who.

When I was little I always assumed "wolverine" must be an adjective meaning "wolflike."

The actual origin story behind the name is funny: they needed a stereotypical Canadian superhero and didn't have one handy so an editor said "OK, make a guy who is tiny and angry and clawed, call him Wolverine."

Honestly I think this is increasingly the consensus opinion. Defending Firefly is bigger rage bait these days.

(Personally I give it like a B+, but I'm not sure how much that's rose colored glasses and I don't care to back and rewatch.)

Correct, AI is indeed going to continue making everything worse. I'm glad we see eye to eye.

You seem to have fucked up and accidentally included some random cousin or something in place of your "before" picture. I swear, for as much as trans women love posting timelines we're really bad at it!

That's a ton of food, those things are huge! I can't believe perfidious German women want to worsen the American obesity crisis

Now consider the overlap between anti-trans and anti-vax beliefs. Oh, there's a 1 in 10,000,000 chance a healthy person may have a potentially fatal adverse reaction? Can't have that, guess we should just let the entire immunocompromised population die instead. It was probably going to happen anyhow

Hang on, I'm trying to make a Venn diagram for the overlap between people concerned about medicalization of trans people and rabid eugencists but it's only showing me one circle, give me a minute to troubleshoot this

It's not a universal test but one helpful criteria is that if a boy says they feel dysphoric but doesn't experience any sexual attraction to boys then they are not a gay boy. Hope this helps, Benjamin! I know it's tough to wrap your head around a non-masculine boy not being gay but I believe in you.

You forgot the side of the die with a largely unrelated "humorous" anecdote written in the voice of a 90s boomer chain email about that ends with "And THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is why you never mess with America" no matter what the question was.

I suspect he's far enough gone that he's not even grasping for technicalities any more, he's straight up decided that he is the sole arbiter of truth and those that disagree with him are straight up lying.

This is exactly right. When I was considering transition I got very caught up in words and trying to figure out what makes people trans, whether a trans person is "really" a member of their gender, etc.

I realized none of it mattered. Whether I "am" a man or merely living as a man doesn't matter.

AI is the ultimate triumph of quantity over quality. If you don't have the proficiency to distinguish between good output and mediocre output it's easy to say "Wow! Look at all that output, AI is incredible!"

This describes the entire managerial class, but also disturbing numbers of professionals.

04.03.2026 16:44 πŸ‘ 4 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

There are plenty of detransitioners who will say "I realized that what I really wanted was to embrace my femininity as a man/masculinity as a woman", but anti-trans lobbyists who claim that transitioning reinforces gendered stereotypes are weirdly uninterested in their narratives... for some reason.

I know this post has been going around a lot but I just want to make it clear: there is a 100% chance that the effeminate twink going "gosh what if someone peer pressured me into becoming a woman, just imagine how awful that would be" has an active Fictionmania account

Right, that's what I'm talking about. But the people who dropped support for GAC for minors under right wing pressure are generally not going to put up any more of a fight for GAC for adults, so it's disingenuous to argue that GAC for adults is any kind of silver lining for anyone.

04.03.2026 13:48 πŸ‘ 6 πŸ” 2 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Which is disingenuous, because the same forces that oppose GAC for minors largely oppose GAC for adults! There is no principled consensus that's pro-GAC for adults only; there's pro-GAC, anti-GAC, and a lot of indifferent people who are letting the anti-GAC camp persuade them.

Yeah, it's dangerous how elites push bigotry to target the vulnerable and distract the public.
