This is nonsense.
In 1976, studies showed that less than 40% of jobs in America paid enough to support a family of four on their own.
This is, quite simply, not remotely true. One generation ago? In 2002? What about two and three generations ago? Nope. Not remotely true. It doesn't advance discussions of political economy to make absurd claims like this.
Just a reminder that Muslims have been on this continent since the first arrival of non-Indigenous people. They were among the first generation of Americans, and have been here ever since.
I don’t know how this would’ve gone if my grandmother hadn’t died in her 40s, but grandpa (a coal miner) knew the score, and insisted that my mom and her sister both get masters degrees so that (and I’m quoting here) “you won’t ever have to depend on no man” (this was in the ‘60s)
