I was in bed by 8pm last night, and it felt GOOD. I definitely needed the extra sleep

Them: "You’re still masking?"

Me: You don't want what I have.

Them: "Oh, what's that?"

Me: A working knowledge of the long-term damage from repeated Covid infections. And a strong desire not to confuse stacked brain and organ injury with normalcy.

So incredible. The thing that really made me cry is that despite such beauty so many of our species just continues to destroy it without caring. I can't understand that. I just can't. We are a blight on the planet.

the thing is that there are lots of modest, tedious, repetitive tasks in many of our jobs and lives where we might be happy to pay a fee for an ethically developed standalone tool to do only that task. but we can’t have that because it won’t make people rich enough

Chadwick Boseman and James van der Beek both died in their 40s of an illness that's treatable if a colonoscopy catches it but almost no insurer covers them for people under 45, this is what Engels meant by "social murder"

If you're still on TikTok, you might want to re-think that

National media should really be covering the fact thay every major school, museum, and arts institution in the Twin Cities, and hundreds of local businesses are closed tomorrow to protest federal occupation.

Nothing like this at this scale has happened anywhere in America anytime in living memory.

I really, REALLY wish we would just start making the human vaccine affordable enough that people could simply get vaccinated for it on a whatever-number of years-basis is needed. Rabies is HORRIFYING. Just seeing the word makes me physically sick to my stomach.

Wants: the ability to do a little bit of incline. And I definitely want good quality - I'd rather pay a little more and get something that lasts, as opposed to buying something cheaper that ends up breaking a year down the road.

Also needs to be easily moved and stowed away, so it cannot weigh more than probably 50ish pounds. I need to be able to switch it out with my office chair when I want to stop walking and sit down. 2/

Looking for recommendations for a #WalkingPad that I can use under my stand/sit table where I work. Needs: able to slide fully under table, so any vertical components like arm rests have to be optional/be able to lay flat; 50" in length because I have a glass deskmat it will sit on top of. 1/

One of the best things the rest of the world could do right now, I think, is stop negotiating/talking to the entire administration. Just stop. At some point, you need to say "No, you can't have X" and be done. There is no point in arguing with spoiled children. You say No, and that's the end.

I would never suggest that anyone do anything unlawful - certainly not right here, in front of God and everybody. So remember the first rules of firearm and internet safety: Treat every gun like it’s loaded… and every poster who calls for crime a cop.

This is making me miss my chiropractor (he retired and moved to Oregon while I was in Japan in 2019) because he was EXACTLY like yours. I have no doubt that he would have figured out what's causing my horrendous occipital headache migraine thingees and have it fixed by now.

two discord messages that read:
"if you recently filled out a survey about Discord potentially getting involved with Al, change your password. That was an account grabber link."
and
"Well, apparently that survey I put was was not a real official Discord survey, despite the fact that Discord has used the website for surveys in the past. People are apparently getting hacked. If you took the survey, change your password, posthaste."

hey so this is blatant false information punishing people for doing the right thing. no, it was not a "grabber". it was a reputable survey site that discord has used previously for limited surveys.

nothing can """grab""" information if you dont provide it, which an anonymous survey didnt ask for.

recently my friend's comics professor told her that it's acceptable to use gen AI for script-writing but not for art, since a machine can't generate meaningful artistic work. meanwhile, my sister's screenwriting professor said that they can use gen AI for concept art and visualization, but that it won't be able to generate a script that's any good. and at my job, it seems like each department says that AI can be useful in every field except the one that they know best.

It's only ever the jobs we're unfamiliar with that we assume can be replaced with automation. The more attuned we are with certain processes, crafts, and occupations, the more we realize that gen AI will never be able to provide a suitable replacement. The case for its existence relies on our ignorance of the work and skill required to do everything we don't.

I need people to wrap their minds around the fact that here in Minneapolis, ICE broke the window of a vehicle yesterday, pepper sprayed the occupants, and arrested them, and shot another observer in the face today, and OBSERVERS ARE STILL GOING OUT TO PROTECT THEIR NEIGHBORS AT MASSIVE PERSONAL RISK
