The obvious wisdom and effectiveness of Housing First is obscured by the fact we've made "a tiny, no-frills apartment" an expensive status symbol in huge swathes of the country by creating an artificial housing shortage
It’s hard to properly convey the lunacy of these proposals to people outside aerospace.
Reflect wants to put gigantic mirrors in orbit and beam down sunlight at nighttime.

Important to note that last month the Trump admin tried a similar thing for childcare funding and got smacked down almost immediately once sued.
Two fun details:
1. In many PA counties, and I believe Berks is one, the initial bail decision is made JUST by the police (who are a party here) and a magistrate judge. That can hold for up to 2 weeks.
2. I just learned that magistrate judges need no legal education and get four weeks of training.

Upwards of 206 U.S. citizens have been hauled off the streets into vehicles by masked federal agents conducting Operation Metro Surge over the past three months in Minnesota.
One of those citizens beat and held in jail shared their story with UR while urging people not to normalize ICE’s presence.

This 53 year old man who lived in my neighborhood w/no criminal record & who had been in the US for 30 years, was detained and thrown into a cold cell for days, caught pneumonia and COVID there and deported.
He finally died.
I am so angry.
