You already have that from the start. There's something called cloud server that is basically a small minecraft world u and ur friends can play on etc. There's also one in the main game for if u don't have nso but it's not random but still freedom. U can get to it like asap it just warns u

pokopia is FAR better and more engaging than i was expecting. initial impressions are a 9/10, maybe even 9.5. definitely the best pokemon game of the switch era.

It's silly but the best way of describing the multiplayer is its minecraft realms. Anyone can access the island at anytime and anyone can join/be host and your progress is shared etc

Pokopia is really, REALLY good. There is so much to do. It's so laid back. I feel like I could spend forever in this game.

And also the multiplayer is kind of INCREDIBLE? You can create a random island for you and your friends to play on that ANYONE can be on at anytime regardless if the host is on

Mainly cause there's finally a way to play Dragon Quest X English translated on SteamOS. In fact that's like entirely why but its so perfect for the niche stuff that would never work on like a modded switch, etc. Fun!

Some companies are doing that. Tomodachi life as an example. I don't think it's sustainable though and actively holds games back. So many of 2024 and 2025 switch games were so ass and ran awfully on switch 1.

Idk I kinda don't fault anyone for not wanting to develop for decade old hardware. I get a Switch 2 is hard to afford but goodness the Switch is WAY older than people realize and kinda not good hardware at this point so im glad for companies no longer doing it.

Things that make me despair

The EVO situation is dire.

My hot take is that more Switch 1 & 2 games should support touch controls when in handheld mode.

Mainly RPGs. Why can't I just tap the option I wanna use. Esp egregious in ds/3ds ports like Miitopia.
