Tangentially, I enjoy writing with 3rd Person Omniscient when writing *comedy*, since there's a lot of potential for getting to do little peeks under the hood of various characters in the same scene when setting up punchlines or just making it awkward on purpose.

But not for anything serious.

I was ambivalent about Faramir when I read about him as a kid, especially standing next to Aragorn.

And imo a good part of the impact of those posts was just how "normal" Jordan was otherwise. No edgy demonic heritage, no being a bear furry or werewolf or orc or anything that people typically associate with Rage to narratively suggest this was coming.

The best example I can think of is my teenage berserker, Jordan. Other than being notably Big, he was pretty plain looking. Just a depressed kid from the northern mountains.

His "rage" was him going into a dissociative survival state, and the other players found those posts utterly *terrifying*.

One of my favorite types of characters to play are the ones who look reasonably "normal", or just a bit outside the norm(very tall, very tiny, distinct hair/eyes/fashion sense/etc) but when you get a glimpse under the hood whooooo boy are they ANYTHING but "normal".

Like if someone needs those physical differences to enjoy their own characters? That's fine, that's basically just furry shit in a nutshell. No problems with it.

But fuck outta here with calling *my* characters boring just because they're human.

A fact that is eternally frustrating as someone who is willing to do either passive or aggressive but hates mixing them.

Yay I'm not the only one who feels like this.

I feel like the "humans are boring" mentality is just...superficial and shallow? Like a character has to be distinct in appearance, has to *look* different in order to be interesting?

Honestly even as someone who prefers no pvp, I am often frustrated with the unspoken nature of the assumption. Very much prefer whether or not there will be any room for that to be actively discussed and agreed upon at the very start.

That's prolly the autism speaking? Don't like unspoken rules. 🤷‍♀️

Doing a sort of choose your own adventure story in a discord community this month, where things started with voting on character creation.

Today begins the first chapter in the story of Kaypop the Cyber-Moogle Geodancer.

A publishing strategy where the only acceptable result is a blockbuster is a strategy doomed to collapse. It's economically unsound *and* magnifies existing/historical practices of excluding and under-supporting marginalized writers.
