This week I'ave been mostly skeeting: #COYS, Bromley FC #WeAreBromley, classical music, F1 #LH44, Olympics #TeamGB, Discworld, space, science, photos, puns, occasionally sweary left-leaning liberal secularist views,

I don't know if it's because I've been 'bluesky only' for over a year, or if it's because the world's on fire and politicians are actually having to focus on that...but the culture war stuff seems to have tailed off.

Surprising to see a story like this rear it's head today, feels weirdly nostalgic.

Reaching net zero by 2050 โ€˜cheaper for UK than one fossil fuel crisisโ€™ Climate change committee finds move to renewable energy would also bring health, economic and security benefits

Achieving the UKโ€™s net zero target by 2050 will cost less than a single oil shock and bring health and economic benefits while insulating the country against future costs, the governmentโ€™s climate advisers have forecast. #NetZero

At least Farage performed a mealy-mouthed u-turn. Badenoch is just straight up lying - saying she never supported us joining. ๐Ÿ˜’

Someone in the Commons should risk invoking the wrath of the speaker to call her a LIAR.

Most Reform supporters don't support Farage's position (the red bar) on Iran.

'Only' 46% of Reform supporters are explicitly pro-Trump

Nevermind the public as a whole, the majority of *Reform* voters didn't support Farage on Iran, and barely half of Reform voters explicitly approve of Trump.

He needed to be more careful, but he wasn't, and now we get this characteristically dishonest and mealy-mouthed u-turn. ๐Ÿ˜‚

I find your arguments for a definition persuasive. I also find @natsecsoc.bsky.social's arguments for not adopting one persuasive. ๐Ÿ˜‚ I'll guess I'll judge on outcomes, whatever happens. ๐Ÿ‘

I'm glad the ambiguous (and weaponised) term Islamophobia is gone. For me, a rare point of agreement with KB. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

I'd have less of a problem if one obvious element of it wasn't the leading car simply running short of power - not through lack of driver skill just because the cars are so underpowered. DRS, plus the car in front has to open a parachute!

That bit of it feels broken. It looked silly at points. #f1

In isolation I would definitely subscribe to Hanlon's Razor here. But it's weird how everything Trump does seems to directly or 'inadvertently' benefit Putin in some way. ๐Ÿค”

So taking everything into account, I'm unsure. Could be his utter stupidity, could be his love for Putin. Flip a coin I guess.

I've always thought 'default-Starmer' was a decent man. That DOESN'T excuse HIS decision to spend the past year triangulating some awful positions though. He's got a lot of ground to make up.

Depressing, but at least it's predictable. On the flipside, how many folk who were anti-Bellingcat a few years ago are now happily citing you when it comes to the Iran school bombing? ๐Ÿซ ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

Russell takes pole for the #AustralianGP with a 1:18.518s.

Antonelli is in provisional P2, with Hadjar in P3 and Leclerc in P4. Defending champion Norris is down in P6, nearly a second off Russell. #F1

yep, the snappiness and back and forth between characters is lost as well, lots of monologues. It's still good (no Pratchett isn't) but the change is obvious (and even more so in Raising Steam) ๐Ÿ˜”

What possible reason could the British public have for not wanting to join a never-ending war lead by America in the Middle East?

It's a mystery.
