A man walks into his life.
The barman says “I don’t know what you’re doing here…”
The man says “neither do I!”

If someone living in the middle of a remote forest posts a message on Bluesky and no one sees it, does it exist?
And does it even matter? 🤔

When bad people do bad things, they feel… nothing.

My point is the optics don’t look good to the electorate as instead of making the decision himself, it was made for him despite the writing being clearly on the wall (ie I didn’t have any inside knowledge that wasn’t in the public domain & I’m not a clairvoyant either). I’m sure we’ll never agree
His critics will argue that given the (compelling) evidence against her he should have acted immediately - if only to suspend her - rather than having the decision taken out of his hands… which to many voters adds power to the developing narrative of ‘weak leadership’ & not being up to the job 🤢
She’s gone… the damage is done…
PS I’m a speechwriter - this is my LinkedIn stock-in-trade
PPS I’m also prepared to end up with egg on my face if Rayner survives & Labour win a 2nd term… so watch this space 🫣
My concern is the future of Labour & rise of Reform. All the information I’ve seen suggests very strongly Rayner will have to go. Even if she limped on for a while she’d be toothless in the House. In this instance leadership demands decisive action to limit the inevitable damage from the fallout
If you read my piece carefully, you’ll appreciate that no ‘piling on’ is involved 👍
The longer Starmer resists pulling down the curtain on Rayner’s stint as deputy leader, the greater the cumulative damage to himself and his party's prospects of recovery and survival. And with Reform waiting in the wings, this is a matter of urgency for all of us tinyurl.com/58v4ewyb
This is really excellent on our understandings of - and the reality of - intergenerational inequality.
