I checked out the steam workshop for the game Sea Power. I don't get why one needs to simulate a recent real life tragedy in a videogame? Feels really weird? Is it common for fans of war videogames to make mods about real tragedies that are still happening? Feels really weird.

I think people believe the point of progressive politics is to try to convince malicious, bad-faith bigots to not be violent, instead of defanging their movements and making them politically irrelevant.

It's not about "saving the souls of the lost". It's about making sure their harm is mitigated.

A lot of depression and anxiety is situational, and warranted, because people live in shit circumstances. They’re poor, without resources, etc. and the reason it’s become popular to blame “mental health” is because it’s a way of evading responsibility.

“They committed suicide because they were depressed. It’s a shame they didn’t call our mental health line.”

They were depressed because they were about to be evicted. A toll free number wasn’t going to fix that. But resources would.
