Asked if the US attacked a desalination plant in Iran, Pres. Trump says Iranians are "among the most evil people ever on earth." "They cut babies' heads off—they chop women in half..." "I know nothing about a desalinization plant, other than to say, if they're complaining about a desalinization plant, we complain about the fact they shouldn't be chopping babies' heads off." Trump envoy Steve Witkoff and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth can be seen nodding in agreement.
A pretty clear demonstration here of how the lies told to sell the destruction of the Gaza Strip to the public helped to create the structure of impunity required to destroy as much as possible of other countries too
"The Oriental doesn't put the same high price on life as does a Westerner," pronounced General Westmoreland in '74. "Life is plentiful. Life is cheap in the Orient." Yesterday the President insisted we're in a war of annihilation against people who "behead babies" and "cut women in half."
All these old ingredients plus years of the superadded claim that "we" (IE, qua the unholy alliance of Greater Israel / Greater North America) are the real ones under nuclear threat from *them.* Us, the only nation to ever drop the bomb (twice!), and Israel, which has refused to sign the NPT.
we came *so close* to going nuclear in Korea, and entertained the idea repeatedly in Vietnam. in both the justifications made by deranged generals and monstrous politicians was the impossibly high cost of otherwise facing unrelenting resistance by demonized hordes of enemies with no regard for life
Some study/organizing apps give off the vibe that there's a perfect way to extract all of the relevant information from texts, into a format that facilitates perfect recall and effortless connections. But slowing down, being confused, not finishing, and revisiting is normal and desirable
The Telegraph Y @Telegraph. 57m Sir Keir Starmer could pay for 15 new warships or quadruple the size of the British Army by halting this year's £18bn rise in welfare spending, analysis has shown.
“Bombs, not bairns” is refreshingly blunt
The Telegraph @Telegraph •2h "If Donald Trump can stay the course, remain focused and tolerate the short-term market turmoil, a glittering prize awaits." | Telegraph View
Remember folks: opposing 25 years of escalating war, slaughter and horror is insanely extreme and possibly treasonous, a threat that the police need to crack down hard upon. Cheering it all on and baying for more is Sensible, Moderate and patriotic.
In 2013 Aaron Swartz committed suicide for facing 35 years in prison for mass downloading scientific articles.
13 years later, Meta is almost getting away with an infraction orders of magnitude larger.
The law didn't change.

This is no different from Putin saying MH17 was shot down by Ukraine or Assad saying rebels gassed themselves.

People who refuse to believe the US bombed the school are wild, man. This isn't the first time the US military has killed hundreds of civilians in a single attack. It's not even the first time they've done it by misidentifying a target. Hell, it's not even the first time they've done it *in Iran*

Explain how human emotions work to prove AI doesn’t love! Explain how weather works to prove AI doesn’t rain! Explain how human sexuality works to prove AI isn’t fucking your dad.
Wonderful breakdown!!! The scariest part of these misrepresented stats is that they drive they idea that these beliefs are common and normal, which itself makes people more likely to align with them!!! It's a blight on every journalist who reported this uncritically
När ni läser om den här undersökningen så ta fasta på sista meningen i artikeln: Bara 4 % av män i Sverige tycker att kvinnan alltid ska lyda sin man, vilket är lägst av alla undersökta länder.

Bush and Cheney killed a million people and Harris called his endorsement an honor. The profiteer architect of a war we all marched against. She was screaming into a megaphone that she and her party had no fixed values and everyone I know *still* voted for her. What more do you want from us.
Horrifying scenes from Tehran as oil depots are on fire, poisoning the environment. As with Gaza, the goal is ecocide, to make Iran unlivable. aje.news/64yl8m?updat...
I joke about TBI standing for the Tony Blair Institute and Traumatic Brain Injury, but they are probably the only two groups who'd think "Blair, man with a good record on military intervention in the Middle East" Sam Freedman• @samfr.bsky... • 10h Do they think people have literally no memory of past events at all? A MONSTER OF DELUSION For two hours, Blair dissembled and denied in the face of Chilcot's devastating verdict. Then, with sickening egomania, he declared: I can't say sorry for Iraq... I'd do it again TONY Risie made an ON SUNDAY
There were endless opportunities to hound Tony into a shameful early retirement, making it very clear what he had done wrong and why it was bad. But the lads didn’t want to do that: they wanted to keep interviewing him on TV, reporting his rare interventions and cheer him getting a knighthood.
#Lebanon Reports of many deaths after an Israeli strike on Sir el Gharbiyeh, which is North of the Litani River.
Remember that Israel ordered the forced evacuation of people living south of the Litani river.
Categorically, objectively, condemned by the UN, Yes
It’s already happening. Iran attacked a desalination plant in Bahrain.
This war has to end immediately. If it turns into a water war we will be dealing with a whole different level of a humanitarian catastrophe across the region.

you know bikes are cool because they still inspire fear and loathing after more than a century
