Clydeside Wild (Dean)

This side of the bridge on Clevedon Rd is classed as Dunbartonshire whereas the other side is Lanarkshire but both sides are still in the Glasgow City boundary!

The bottom of Maryhill Locks. The towpath on this section will be closed now till May due to this part of the canal being drained to repair leaks in the Kelvin Aqueduct.

Cormorant : 2nd year bird sporting a alloy ring on its right leg. Had it not been foggy i could have read the number and found out where it was from (F&C Canal, Maryhill)

Friday 6th March
Frosty with a clear blue sky to start my walk but half way home the fog rolled in out of nowhere! Here's the #birds i managed to photograph.

Oh right. I'll keep my eyes open for any variants and without doubt i'll post them on here.

That's interesting, personally i've not noticed any differences in any given species. Although i've never had intermediate or dark forms of Peppered Moth here.

It's the darkest one i've seen too Matt. I thought it was something else when i first saw it.

What i believe to be the tenanted leafmine of the Leaf Beetle 'Sphaeroderma testaceum' on Knapweed. Collected from Craighall Rd, Craighall.

Back to the normal 'dark & dreary' weather of Glasgow but the time of year means there's still new emergences to be found.

It's the other way round for me. Seen plenty of LC plants but none are flowering yet.

Tuesday 3rd March
3 of 9 #foxes seen on my walk back from Clydebank.
The 2nd one is the one that's blind in its right eye that i saw a couple of weeks back.

It's just wonderful to see things springing (no pun intended) into life!

4 firsts of the year #wildflowers from my walk along the F&C Canal. I cannae emphasize enough how much i love this time of year!

Nice T-s Q. They don't come much fresher than that!

It's something i've done for years . Some species are easier than others but basically it's down to knowing the particular species requirements.
There should be more as the year progresses.

Cheers Chris. This species is a relatively easy one to rear.

I was late to the #frogspawn party but i got there in the end. There was hunners of it in a drainage ditch at Glasgow Western Necropolis.

Definitely my favourite time of year with the start of fresh emergences on an almost daily basis. These 2 #inverts were both found at Lambhill Stables.

😂 I'm sure the local rodent population can sustain a family of Kestrels without no great loss.

It's made my day and something to look forward to over the coming months 😃

Sunday 1st March
My early morning walk drew a blank no thanks to the rain. I had to jump into Tesco on the way home and i'm glad i did as i found a Early Bumblebee on the ground outside the main entrance and the poor wee thing was soddened. I potted it up and took it home to dry out.
