Furthermore, for these projects to be realised to their full potential, they need funding. Unfortunately, unlike our previous projects, we have been unsuccessful with outside funding. So, we are turning to you, the people, to help us fund our current, and future projects.

Hi everyone! As some of you may know, our organisation, YHP, is focused on the promotion of the scholarship of Black British History.

We have some amazing projects which we can't wait to share with you next year. But the research, editing etc. for these projects are done on a volunteer basis.

Medicinal plants from the Africa

The background motif is formed of medicinal plants located on the African continent. Great care was taken to research ensuring that plants from across the continent were selected. among the featured elements, the mangrove forests for their rich biodiversity evidenced by numerous varieties that could be located across the African continent as well as across the Caribbean. By incorporating mangroves into the mural, we honour the intertwined histories of African and Caribbean people in Britain and the broader context of pan - African politics.

African Women in the British Health Sector

Through this project we were able to uncover the lives and experiences of African women who worked in the health sector in the UK between 1930 - 2000.

African women had a wide range of experiences within the NHS. Our documentary explores their childhood and migration stories, their training and careers in healthcare, and general facets of life in Britain as Black women.

We need to make sure that the curriculum is relevant, interesting and representative of both pupils and the world around them. History class is the perfect opportunity to teach critical thinking, empathy, and cultural understanding.

It shouldn't just be about a load of white men having wars.
