You all say Donald Trump is anti-immigrant, but did you know his wife is an immigrant? *drops mic, saunters triumphantly back into the Nazi bar*
It is so damning of US news media that so many outlets refuse to just straight up say that Senator Tim Sheehy assaulted an activist.
He did not "help" Capitol police. They did not need his help. He wanted to assault the guy and did. He should resign.
“The videos shown to the data annotators also go further, including credit card details and sexual acts. While some footage certainly could've been filmed on purpose by the user, it's thought that many instances were caught without the user or the video's subjects being fully aware.“

Right around the same time Platner went on the channel and said he's a "longtime fan of the show," the host was putting out videos about SNAP benefit cuts with AI thumbnails depicting Black people looting stores & promoting Nick Shirley. Vile.

also, trump never really did pretend to be anti-war, at best it was something he allowed people to project onto him
he openly mused in the 2024 election that the anti-war crowd loved him, thought he was pro-peace, anti-israel, & so on
& i'll quote directly "even though i'm not"
The world could be such a nice place if we allowed it. It's all so goddamn unnecessary. There's no need for any of it. It's so beautiful here. It should be so cool to be alive

When a Trump comes to town, you’d be a chump to think that it’s for your benefit. He wants something, almost certainly your money. | Opinion
This is my thought too. How can you see this chain of events and think "no, we should absolutely still be staying on Twitter." Its bad if del Valle did this knowing who she was QTing but its *worse* if she didnt! Ppl are getting regular exposure to nazis there & dont even realize it!
You probably guessed where this is going: the entire "anti-woke moral panic of the last five years is an absolutely *textbook* example of how horrors happen. It was never going to stop with bathrooms or sports or HR policies.

The political effects of X's feed algorithm https://doi.org/10.1038/s41586-026-10098-2 Received: 16 December 2024 Accepted: 4 January 2026 Published online: 18 February 2026 Open access • Check for updates Germain Gauthier,5, Roland Hodler?5, Philine Widmer35 & Ekaterina Zhuravskaya3,4,5 m Feed algorithms are widely suspected to influence political attitudes. However, previous evidence from switching off the algorithm on Meta platforms found no political effects'. Here we present results from a 2023 field experiment on Elon Musk's platform X shedding light on this puzzle. We assigned active US-based users randomly to either an algorithmic or a chronological feed for 7 weeks, measuring political attitudes and online behaviour. Switching from a chronological to an algorithmic feed increased engagement and shifted political opinion towards more conservative positions, particularly regarding policy priorities, perceptions of criminal investigations into Donald Trump and views on the war in Ukraine. In contrast, switching from the algorithmic to the chronological feed had no comparable effects. Neither switching the algorithm on nor switching it off significantly affected affective polarization or self-reported partisanship. To investigate the mechanism, we analysed users' feed content and behaviour. We found that the algorithm promotes conservative content and demotes posts by traditional media. Exposure to algorithmic content leads users to follow conservative political activist accounts, which they continue to follow even after switching off the algorithm, helping explain the asymmetry in effects. These results suggest that initial exposure to X's algorithm has persistent effects on users' current political attitudes and account-following behaviour, even in the absence of a detectable effect on partisanship.
A new paper shows that less than 2 months of exposure to Twitter’s algorithmic feed significantly shifts people’s political views to the right.
Moving from chronological feed to the algorithmic feed also increases engagement.
This is one of the most concerning papers I’ve read in awhile.
And, frankly, it is very much a “you” issue if you have no theory of mind to actually comprehend that other people do have principles, and they are willing to stand behind them to make the world better.
But at the very least, you could just do us the courtesy of getting out of the fucking way.
There must be trials. Not as an emotive aspiration, rhetorical meme, or empty threat. A concrete plan. A dedicated special court for it. Structural legislation and prosecutors and funding and all the rest of it. Everything necessary for it can be done constitutionally. All it takes is the will.

There is a right to vote.
Though federal officers can’t be sued under civil rights law, which only apply to state officers, @aclu sues them here as *conspirators* with state officers. (It was a joint task force.) Individ plaintiffs also sue under Federal Tort Claims Act.

The @ACLU has filed a class action damages suit against federal & state officers over an Idaho immigration raid last October. 200 armed officers raided a horse-race festival, detaining 400 Latinos for 4 hrs. All adults & many teens ziptied & searched.
