A macro nature photograph capturing a tight cluster of phlox flowers in bloom. The foreground flower is in sharp focus, showing five broad, slightly overlapping petals in a pale lavender-purple, each petal marked by a deeper pink-purple vein running from tip to center. Dozens of tiny water droplets cling to the petals after a recent rain. Surrounding the central bloom are several other partially visible flowers at various angles, along with small green buds not yet open. The entire background is rendered in a dreamy, out-of-focus blur of soft violet and purple tones, giving the image a tranquil, painterly quality. Β© 2021 Sofiimagines

Abstract watercolor painting with a bold horizontal emerald green brushstroke across the center, anchored by vertical rectangular forms in deep emerald and olive green. Close-up photograph of yellow tulipa tarda flowers blooming among slender green leaves. The central blossom is fully open, revealing golden stamens, edged with pale ivory petals tinged in soft blush. The surrounding blooms are in various stages of opening, Tulipa Tarda Photography by Sofiimagines Β© 2025 Sofiimagines
A close-up photograph of a tightly furled young lily of the valley leaf in vivid chartreuse and lime green. The leaf spirals inward at the center, forming a perfect curl with a small dark hollow at its heart. Fine parallel lines run along the leaf's surface, catching the light and creating subtle variation between bright yellow-green and deeper shadowed green. The background is filled with the broad, flat planes of surrounding leaves, slightly out of focus. The overall feeling is of coiled energy and new growth, almost architectural in its geometry. A abstract watercolor painting divided into four loose quadrants by two intersecting bands of blue, one horizontal and one vertical, meeting at a small textured blue-gray square at the center. The upper left quadrant is a soft, luminous yellow. The upper right is a rich, deep green. The lower left is a cool teal-blue washing into green. The lower right blends yellow and green together. The watercolor bleeds softly at all edges, with no hard lines, and the texture of the paper is visible throughout. The overall feeling is fresh, cool, and bright, like a cold drink on a warm day. A close-up photograph of two vibrant red Oriental poppies in a garden setting. The foreground flower dominates the right side of the frame, its large, tissue-thin petals ruffled and luminous, with a small dark burgundy center visible at its heart. A second poppy blooms behind and to the left, slightly out of focus. Between them, a round green bud on a slender hairy stem reaches upward, not yet open. The stems and deeply serrated leaves are bright green and visibly textured with fine hairs. The background is softly blurred in muted greens and gray, keeping all attention on the bold red blooms. The overall feeling is of lush, fleeting early summer abundance. Β© 2019 Sofiimagines

An abstract watercolor painting in bold, vertical bands of color. From left to right: a ragged column of cadmium yellow, followed by deep charcoal black, then a wash of cool gray, bleeding into a large field of intense ruby red that fills the right half of the composition. White oil pastel marks streak through the layers like scratches or sparks, visible especially against the red. A small circle of warm orange glows near the bottom right, like an ember. The edges of each color band are soft and irregular, with the textures of wet-on-wet watercolor throughout. The overall feeling is one of heat, contrast, and energy. An abstract watercolor painting in bold vertical bands against a predominantly dark background. From left to right: a column of intense ruby red, followed by deep charcoal black, then a bright cadmium yellow column that glows warmly against the dark surroundings, ending in another band of dark gray-black on the right. White oil pastel marks streak and scribble across all the bands in loose, energetic lines, with thin red marks also visible weaving through the composition. The dark areas dominate, making the red and yellow feel vivid and luminous by contrast. The textures of wet watercolor paper are visible throughout. The overall feeling is of flickering firelight in darkness. Weenie Roast No. 2 | The Picnic Series Mixed Media on paper Β· 5 Γ 5 in Watercolor and oil pastel on paper Β© 2026 Sofiimagines

A close-up photograph of three bright yellow tulips in full bloom against a soft dark background. The foreground tulip is fully open, revealing its interior with yellow pollen-dusted stamens and a white pistil at the center. The petals have a smooth, slightly waxy texture with gentle light catching their curves. A second tulip rises tall and partially closed in the upper center, while a third peeks in from the lower right. Rich green stems and leaves are visible behind the blooms. Β© 2026 Sofiimagines

That makes sense - thank you for the suggestion!
I'm trying to decide on a background style for my artwork to tuck everything neatly into the BlueSky presentation windows and I'm wondering which do you prefer? I'm leaning towards the white, but the gray seems to be gentler on the eyes.

Nice capture! It's so crazy how bizarre and beautiful some flowers look.
~Palette 3 - Frosted Leaves~ A cold morning photography session, crouching down among the fallen leaves with frost-nipped fingers, camera pointed at the ground - and suddenly you see it. The way the frost traces every edge in white. The way the leaves have faded from their autumn fire into something quieter and more complex - creams, peaches, warm tawny browns, deep tobacco shadows. The colors of decay made beautiful. Weeks later, those images are still sitting with me, and this palette is the result - White Nights Yellow Ochre and Burnt Sienna softened with Zinc White to catch that pale, frosted light, building through warm peach and amber mid-tones, and finally deepening into rich, dark browns touched with Alizarin Crimson for the shadows that collect between the leaves.
