@troysnoise
Episcopalian, socialist, dad. I like trains, bicycles, video games, and sharing. In a former life I did sound design for video games, but now I have a dumb email job with health insurance. Don't tell my boss when you see that I'm not working. Living in WA

9 video game covers, arranged in a grid. Harvest Moon 64, Sonic Adventure 2, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Ikaruga, Sim City 3000, Shenmue, Final Fantasy VII, Pokemon Red, 1000xResist
I think these are #my9games. Each of these definitely takes up a large part of my brain.
Special shoutout to @sunsetvisitor.studio for 1000xResist, the only game on here that managed to worm its way so deeply into my brain as an adult rather than as a child or teenager.
Then I remembered it was a quick outline of how I wanted to order the layers of a scrolling background in one of my game projects
Found this nature poem in an old text file on my computer. I thought it was neat, but I don't read much poetry, so I was trying to remember where I found and why I had bothered to save it.

Sonic The Hedgehog
The original Japanese manual for 'Sonic The Hedgehog' has cute images on how to take care, or not take care, of your carts.
This image is for telling you to take a break from gaming every once in a while, and has both the sketch & colored version of it.

So proud I get to help @rasheedabueideh.bsky.social create this incredibly important historical game, despite the powers that be in the games industry insisting that Palestinians can not be allowed to tell their story.

The left tried for decades to pass green energy subsidies, passed them, the subsidies worked, and now literally the entire planet's electricity grid is going to convert to solar+battery. It just doesn't feel like "tech" because it mostly produces kinda boring blue collar jobs instead of billionaires
sorry I don't have time for discourse. I'm doing important work here

If you ever want me to take a listen to some audio stuff (and aren't on a time crunch), lmk! In my past life I worked in audio for video games and would enjoy poking at esoteric audio things.
NEW: No one has heard from Seattle organizer Frank Gabriel Yzaze Yegres since Friday when he said he would be deported this weekend. ICE lookup system says he's in custody, but won't say where. Advocates demand WA congressional delegation step in

Firewatch is great. I should play it again soon
Ten years ago today we shipped Firewatch. I say this every anniversary but it feels both like a lifetime ago and like it was yesterday. Thank you everyone who played it back then or played it today for the first time. Thank you to everyone on the team, Iβm still so proud of what we made.
suffer like G did??
They don't fire me, because I put so many things in the American AI sack. But they tell me to not put things in the Chinese AI sack ever again.
Well, my work finds out about this and they are not happy. They're super mad, going off about national security and foreign actors and shit. So then I'm in trouble, and they make me take all the stuff out of the Chinese AI sack, and put it in the "American AI" sack that they hand me.
The best thing is that this was represented in my dream as me dragging around a giant dumb sack labelled "Chinese AI." My job was to stuff random things into this big cartoon sack, and then "AI" does something to it. Like, in the sack. The sack is the AI thing
Last nigt I dreamed that work made me use AI, but they didn't care what and gave no oversight. So I used Chinese AI models, with a spiteful "they won't like this" kind of attitude.
running around a cool city is basically why i want to play Pokemon, sounds awesome
No no, you're good in my book π
Me, a guy who grew up in the American south, but now lives in the PNW: "I'm glad I don't live there anymore. It's kind of terrible"
Some other guy who never lived in the south: "Yeah, I wouldn't want to live there either."
Me: "I'll kick your ass, the south is great how dare you"
