Nothing really turned me off it, I had just been hearing Zen going around the tech grapevine and after reading a bit about it, wanted to try it.

I used Firefox a lot back in the day, and when they started pushing AI, that turned me off. Zen continues that original Firefox trend with zero AI BS.

So I've got Vivaldi on the backburner for a while, and trying out @zen-browser.app for a while. I've heard a lot about it, wanted to test the waters.

It's kinda nice working with a firefox frame again but not having that AI slop built in like Firefox has now.

That's a valid reason honestly. I never thought of that happening. Won't be an issue now since I've resigned myself sadly to stucking with play store.

So I guess I'll have to settle with 98% de-googlefy, trying to use fdroid and apkpure and a whole shitload of workarounds is just a massive headache that's making me cranky.

So I'll stick with having one google account for the app store only. It beats bashing my head against a tech wall.

And I can fix that issue of not having a gps map thingy by getting me a little dash mount at the dollar store. Simple fix for now until the infotainment system gets the "pass it down" update in a few months that'll have built in navigation using Waze.

Sometimes simplicity is a lot better.

Also on my drives around town today, not having to fight Andoid Auto was also kinda nice. I actually like the Subaru's built in infotainment system.

I don't have the big fancy Waze map on the screen, but the only time I really use that is if I'm travelling long distances, which ain't often.

Only crux is ill probably lose all my progress on games like Pokemon Go and Marvel snap, but since I don't play those much anymore, it doesn't seem like a total loss.

Looks like APKPure might be my app store ticket to finally cutting the last strand from Google once and for all.

Fdroid is okay, but it doesn't have a lot of the apps that I use on a regular basis, especially some of the apps required by my workspace.

Other than google play store for my apps, I've completely full stopped on my previous google use. Having Proton is a godsend for a perfect alternative.

Now I just need a Google Play Store alternative for apps and I'm all set.
