I was an English teacher, and I taught a lot of pieces about civil disobedience. Thoreau is "easy", but he doesnt show the force the govt/ruling party can press upon the disobedient. The repercussions for Thoreau makes one think that the government can recognize when it breaks its own rules.

While I love Thoreau, he is not the best instance of civil disobedience. His privilege let him spend one night in jail, while others (poc) suffered mightily for lesser crimes. He lived "in the woods to live deliberately" yet he ate once a week at E's house where Mrs. Emerson did his laundry.

I love Colorado voting. I get text mags when my ballot is picked up and when it is counted.

If you are single and working a full time job, you should make enough $ that you do not qualify for SNAP. The government is subsidizing companies to not pay their employees. Min wage should cover a single person's basic expenses.
