Thanks Andy, there's actually a couple more as well.
If you'd told me a few years ago I'd be doing this as a hobby I'd never had believed you. Certainly keep the old 'grey matter' ticking over.
Check out my brother's YouTube channel his 3D figure printing and painting is absolutely stunning.

Well the proofs of 'The Heroes of the Great War' arrived today, slight glitch on the spine od hardback version, sorted very quickly, paperback all good. Launch it over the weekend.
Well, proof copies are on their way. Fingers crossed Heroes of the Great War will be out shortly. Quite unbelievably my 6th book, never thought I had it in me.
A young lad I know who is a detectorist, dropped this off last night. It was jet black, but I gave it a gentle clean & it's a 14-15 Star to Dvr J Rafferty 1789 RFA (TF). I did some digging & found he was 19, from Uphall & KIA 6th April 1917.
Edinburgh seems a strange omission. It had a population of circa 170,000 in the 1850s
Into the 'final furlong' now.
Checking and rechecking stuff, but this is looking like the final cover of 'The Heroes of the Great War'. The cover is based on a booklet of the same name, published by Newbattle Parish Church just after the war.
Just another Monday afternoon in Copenhagen ππββοΈπ
He's hoping to find a 'Golden key' aren't we all.

And now a word from Ronan about my book. Good lad, and it only cost me an ice cream π¦

On this the 80th anniversary of VJ Day I remember with great fondness my talks with the late Dr Black about his time serving in Burma with the Royal Corps of Signals, and strangely with the Royal Navy for a while.

Getting on for 9 years since I worked with P7 at Newtongrange Primary School on Street of Sorrow, our entry into the Legion Scotland short Remembrance film. Made the final and came close to winning. A nice group of kids.
I think the Lothian Coal Company had its own Polis, but there was also Midlothian Constabulary in the pit villages as well.
In the 1930s Walter Goodall retired and the couple returned with their boys to Rosewell, Midlothian where Walter became the pit policeman. All three of the boys joined the Army, and in WW2 'wee Stan' was a PT instructor at Achnacarry. Mystery solved and π§΅end. π
In 1916 the couple married in Newtongrange and moved to London. RSM Goodall returned to Cameroon and served out the war they were also blessed with 3 children Stan, Walter and Cameron. When the war ended Walter returned to the Met to complete his service π§΅
Whilst on leave at home in London he took a shine to a young music hall singer, Jane Moffat some 16 years his junior, she came from Sixth Street in Newtongrange and was the daughter of a miner.π§΅
Before the war Walter Goodall from London had served in the Metropolitan Police and was one of the officers involved in the Sidney Street siege. On the outbreak of War he joined up and served in the Military Foot Police before transferring to the West African Field Force π§΅
