Reading Merleau-Ponty’s Phenomenology of Perception for a philosophy course, which does focus on how embodiment and biology affects our conceptions of consciousness. It might be a good read for what you’re missing.

Destruction is a ratchet. The more you destroy the harder it is to rebuild. Once capital, reputation, and institutional knowledge can be gone in months, but take years to rebuild.
