Almost done designing this intro sequence before the horror really starts. Once I'm happy with it, I'll probably get back to working on the enemies again.

Would you go in there? #indiegame #gamedev
I can't be the only one that dreads going into the bathroom in a horror game right? #indiegame #horrorgame
Some new things to show! I've redesigned the classrooms to be a lot larger, I've added interactions to certain objects, and I've got a basic dialogue system working with vocal sounds. #indiegame #gamedev
I was inspired by @bokehdev.bsky.social to try and implement dynamically fading walls, as in walls that only become transparent when the player is close to them. Spent some time this week messing around with shaders and managed to pull it off. #gamedev #GodotEngine
I made a promo trailer for Hollow Heart, although I'm not 100% happy with it. I've left it unlisted on YouTube for now, but I might as well share it here ~ youtu.be/7Ft-Ipk6R3A?... #gamedev #indiegame
Thank you, that's the idea!
I'm working on some basic patrolling enemies today. They follow set patrol routes, but will chase the player character if they see her, similar to Metal Gear Solid. #gamedev #GodotEngine
What is that? #gamedev #indiegame
Rotating the camera isn't meant to be fun, and yet... #gamedev #GodotEngine
How did I get here? #gamedev #GodotEngine
I'm working on a new map today. You might be wondering how you end up in a place like this, but I won't be spoiling anything π #gamedev #pixelart
Working a bit on the player lantern today. Besides illuminating the player, It now shines only in the direction that the player is facing, making anything behind the player or outside of the cone totally invisible. Works in first and third person. #gamedev #GodotEngine
I've created a discord server for Hollow Heart if you'd like to join and keep up to date with the game's development - discord.gg/aZmU7KAu Other developers and creatives are welcome to join and share their work as well
I took a break from level design to finally add a simple hiding mechanic to the game. Now you can hide under desks! Although now I actually need to add a bottom face to the desk models haha. #gamedev #Godot
"Show me the four GAMES that influenced YOUR current game project."
I uploaded this classroom scene to Sketchfab if anyone is interested - skfb.ly/puwOB #pixelart #lowpoly
Thanks man! I'm not really far enough in development yet to be able to commit to a release date, but it's progressing well so far
Thank you! π
Thank you! π You get it haha π
I'm slowly but surely building the interior of the school. This hallway is looking a little more fleshed out now, just needs a little more detail and props. It's still just a hallway to nowhere, but that's only temporary! #gamedev #indiegame
The music is from Quake π
Here's what it looks like with all the lights turned off. The school seems a lot scarier in the dark π #indiegame #gamedev #GodotEngine
I added transitions between rooms. I also improved the lighting effects a bit, and added a lantern the player can turn on when needed. #indiegame #gamedev #GodotEngine
Ah yeah, I remember someone saying that before π It does look similar
Yeah I also love that style, lots of retro-style FPS games do it well. I also really like the combination of low-poly models and pixel art textures. I do use the DS PokΓ©mon games as a visual reference, but it's a little different to what I'm going for
That said, since I implemented the camera system I have learned of a few older games that have a very similar camera setup, namely Persona 2 and Breath of Fire IV.
Thank you, glad you like it! I came up with it initially as a way to let the player see more of the environment and so that I wouldn't have to worry about them going behind objects. Later I realised it could actually contribute to gameplay mechanics.
Same scene, but with CRT shader turned on. I think it has more of a horror feel. #indiegame #gamedev #GodotEngine
No more changing my mind, this is my solo project for 2025: A Survival Horror turn-based RPG with light stealth mechanics. Here's an early glimpse of what I've got planned. #indiegame #gamedev #GodotEngine
