Why is there always enough money for MORE BOMBS and never enough for school meals, healthcare, or to protect people from climate disasters?
Today, as some governments promote a new “nuclear renaissance”, the question remains: What should the future of energy look like? 🌍️🔌
After the 2011 disaster, all nuclear reactors ☢️ in the country were shut down. For almost 2️⃣ years, Japan produced no nuclear electricity at all.
But instead of accelerating the shift to renewable energy, huge resources were spent trying to restart reactors — with limited success.
🇯🇵 15 years later: remembering #Fukushima ☢️ In 2011, an earthquake & tsunami struck Japan & triggered a devastating disaster. But the nuclear catastrophe that followed was not inevitable. It was shaped by human decisions, systemic risks and flawed energy choices. And those risks have not disappeared.
