This is an asshole tactic for sure. They claim it's for the safety of the user, viruses and all, blah-blah-blah, but in reality they just to milk the devs for money and monopolize with their store.

Considering the huge prices on GPU, RAM and so on... It's a wise decision cause the average person won't buy a 1k euro console. As long as data centers will continue to buy out everything the price won't stabilize

I would say it's because that genre has been popularized by streamers and people like to watch how other people struggle far more than playing it themselves. Ooooor.... People don't struggle enough in their real life, so they need artificial suffering, haha

Throw tomatoes at me, but I think the industry should get back to separate accelerator cards so they would calculate all those upscalers, frame generators and ray reconstructions. It would solve the deficit, make the prices lower and would benefit the overall performance.
What method are you using to inject HDR? I usually use Special K for that
