I try to frame it from the perspective of the user/reader. The pixel has a strong connotation, but if it's aligned with the goal of the project, I think it's fine.

It depends on the rationale. I imagine the initial question upon seeing the brand would be: why is it pixelated? Is it a video game or a digital product? If not, is its concept or mechanics somehow anchored in or related to 8-bit retro-style video games?
