Purple background, white text, which says Indian feminist science fiction grapples with female foeticide, caste erasure, honour killings, sex-ratio crises - concerns that emerge from refusing to separate gender from caste, class, environment, geography. "Indian Feminist Science Fiction: A History (Part 1)" -- Amritesh Mukherjee
In this first of two essays, Amritesh Mukherjee gives an overview of Indian feminist SF - starting in 1905, with _Sultana's Dream_, then jumping to the 1980s, and following several themes over the next three decades...

I know resources themselves get bogged down, when it comes to leaving - not everyone can, and it's not of much help, but if one of these links helps take the mental load of finding and searching through multiple websites off one person who's already in crisis, at least its something.

"Heaven Is Hungry" by Michael Botur is the most unsettling horror story I've read this year. A nurse, a hospice, and a 60-year covenant with something that eats the dying. Forget pearly gatesβthink teeth. π€ #HorrorBooks #DarkFiction #HeavenIsHungry

Today is World Book Day? Let's go!
I had the honor of illustrating the cover and edges of the special edition of You Weren't Meant to be Human, by @ajwhiteauthor.bsky.social for @illumicrate.bsky.social/@evernightbooks.bsky.social!
It was one of the coolest projects I've worked on last year π
Itβs the perfect day to disappear into a quaint bookstore, never to be seen again.

the value of human life, and the international rules that apply to you, should not be defined by what side of a human drawn line you live on. I do not support Iran's government, but human life is human life, and a clear double standard is a clear double standard.

Given the animal theme of the week it only seems right to give a shout out to my short #horror collection; The Mistress of the Crows.

So horrible, and such a double standard. I do not support Iran's government, but it feels like when a Western-aligned country is attacked, it's an excuse to do anything, but when a non-aligned nation is attacked, they are told they had it coming, and any retaliation is unreasonable.
While on the topic, it feels important to acknowledge that Gyllenhaalβs smartest male character isnβt that of Frankenstein but of Peter Sarsgaardβs Detective Jake Wiles. Sarsgaard performs the character admirably, of course, but the cleverness of Wiles exists in his simplicity. Throughout The Bride, he repeatedly insists that things arenβt βup to himβ while never even trying to affect change. Sure, itβs a pity all them broads are losing their tongues, but it ainβt up to him! Awful that the Commissioner dropped that important case, but it ainβt up to him! Pity that his partner (βsecretaryβ) Myrna Mallow (Penelope Cruz) canβt have her name on their cases because sheβs a lady. It. Ainβt. Up. To. Him.

Flashing people your pubis and coccyx is a whole new level of depravity lol
In my experience (having worked in healthcare), whenever you know "too much" about death/bodies, people just assume you're a serial killer, even if they know you work in a hospital.
Maybe it's the body in the attic throwing them off (jk - just to be clearπ€£)
