This reminds me of something Toni Morrison wrote.
I’ve wished the same, and then I feel guilty about it, but gd, he’s one of the best (if not the) and I wish he were around even more.
You NEED to find it, I pulled this bit for you from my recording and boy does it build from here.
Gawd, I miss him—the easiness with a laugh, genuine laughter in response to what he observes, and the eloquence.
Jesse Jackson’s service. He was amazing.
INJECT. THIS. SPEECH. DIRECTLY. INTO. MY. VEINS.
Costco has carved out a nice niche for itself in these times, wonderful to see. Keep it up.
Jaysus but I miss Obama orating—blissfully refreshing from *waves at the current administration* whatever the hell they do.
what i think is going on w/ graham platner fwiw: a certain cohort of D pundits & self-appointed leaders, disproportionately male and gentile, have decided that in order to appeal to low-trust men (whose votes they seem to think count more) it's necessary to allow a little antisemitism, as a treat
Every day I check on the news and every day I remind myself “That fucker can’t live forever.”
There is morality in secularity. There is love in it. Love does not have to come only from religion. The very notion that it does offends me. We are (most of us) born with the innate capacity and desire to love. You want to put your brand on that, go ahead and do that but not while campaigning.
I don’t want our politics to be about which stripe of Christian we get to elect this time. Enough. Bring back secularity and separation between church and state.
This question has been on my mind for 14 months.
A tweet from Eleanor Klibanoff saying, "The Texas Supreme Court has temporarily BLOCKED a Dallas judge’s order to keep the polls open til 9, ordering the county to separate out votes from people who were not in line at 7pm. Not a final ruling, but will create chaos in getting results from Dallas County"
Wow. If any races in Dallas County are super tight, this will be a huge legal fight as thousands of votes hang in purgatory.
The audience sits behind the Resolute desk, is my guess.
Ever read a sentence that feels like you're having a stroke
What we know so far, 9:30pm:
1. Few final results.
2. In NC, 3 Dems who helped GOP trailing.
3. Crenshaw, Al Green in trouble.
4. Dems close to a leg flip in Arkansas.
5. Cornyn & Talarico narrowly ahead.
6. Close Arkansas supreme court, tho redder counties await.
7. Fort Bend County exec ousted.
10/10 No notes.
I feel this in my bones.
I feel like we typically see these sorts of completely outraged opinions from federal judges a couple times a year across the whole country, maybe a little more often in last few years. Now, in cases stemming from Trump's immigration crackdown, judges are ringing the alarm bell several times a week.
I’m sure Toth is a total nightmare, but
hahahahaha
The Senate match-up is now set in North Carolina: Roy Cooper (D) will face Michael Whatley (R) in November.
This was very heavily expected, though Whatley had some competition in the GOP primary.
(That's also the first result that gets updated in our guide: boltsmag.org/whats-on-the...)
IYKYK and you’ve probably been following him for years here or elsewhere, but if you’re not following @taniel.bsky.social for all things elections (analysis, results, etc.), you’re missing out.
Talarico putting up Bashar Assad numbers in central Texas—winning Travis, Hays, Williamson by 50 points. Expect San Antonio to be good for him. Feels like an early-ish call is coming.
Since July, more than a dozen pregnant children have been moved to a single facility in the small town of San Benito, along the south Texas border. The children kept in Texas are as young as 13, and about half are pregnant because of rape, according to a joint investigation by the Texas Newsroom and the California Newsroom. In Texas, abortion is banned in nearly all circumstances, including rape and incest.
the phrase “more than a dozen pregnant children” ringing in my ears www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...
EXCLUSIVE: At more than 30 installations, U.S. commanders told troops the war on Iran is a Christian war.
The Military Religious Freedom Foundation has been “inundated” with more than 110 complaints.
One NCO said they were told the U.S. war is to bring about Armageddon and the return of Jesus…
Quote from Washington Times editorial board "[Radical liberals] don't realize that, when they express contempt for the man who holds the country's highest office, they reveal their contempt for the Americans who put him there."
Uh no...we definitely realize it.
"We have at last found a global villain who matches the bugbear — an ill-informed violent despot who seems to enjoy carnage for its own sake, & who has the power & will to project terror & violence anywhere on earth for any reason or none.
That global villain is, of course, President Donald Trump."
Every night I check on the news and every night I remind myself “That fucker can’t live forever.”
No truer words.
