The #SOTU2026 highlight was undoubtedly the Medal of Honor awarded to CW5 Eric Slover. I fortunately came across a remarkable earlier story of Slover's heroism and courage under fire, reported over a decade ago by Jay Price. A real American hero.

Always a pleasure to watch! Thanks!
Curious. What are the sauces you use?
High-end preamp. Originally, probably close to double that price.
A young Native American wearing face paint and a black T-Shirt saying: No One Is ILLEGAL on Stolen Land. There is an upside down American flag underneath the words, ILLEGAL, indicating distress.
Unfortunately, I don't know who to credit for this photo, but it says it all.
Ironically, was in DC from 1980-83, and got to see it.
This is Zephyr. He is a professionally trained bed bug detector. When he recognizes the scent of live bed bugs, he gives an alert by sitting and smiling exuberantly at his handler. We're pretty sure no one has ever been more excited to find bed bugs in their life. 13/10 (TT: emmercrew)
View of a deck walkway to the beach early in the morning. The sky is all purple, red, pink and blue.
"Purple Sky*"
Oct 2020
*I happened to wake up before sunrise that morning and notice the pink/purple colors dominating everything else. I've never seen the sky like this before or afterwards.
Day 2 – 30-Day Winter Cycling Challenge (Anniversary) 🚲❄️
I’m re-sharing this series because it opened the door to conversations, encouragement of new friends from around the globe—each riding their own version of winter. New here? Welcome. Rode along last year? Thanks for pedaling back with me.
I want to share this with you because this is one of the most beautiful things I’ve seen: this is Carol of The Bells - we call it Shchedryk - performed by Ukrainian military and a veteran in Kyiv main railway station . But I must warn you: it will break your heart. And then, it will heal it again.
Ew ... only a 5-speed.
That was so beautiful that I pulled out my Jasha Heifetz's work.

I live in a college town with little to no decent biking infrastructure, but see lots of analogue bikes, cargo bikes and e-bikes.Very few of the Vroom-Vroom toys. e-cargo bike are used to transport kids, other stuff frequently, and e-bikes used for commuting, as well as regular bikes.
What that says is those people aren't very observant. Time moves on, including economic levels. Times were very different then, and the changes don't make poverty any less detrimental.
I bet your children will.
It's been 4 months *to the day* since Tropical Storm #Chantal damaged a key non-car transportation corridor in #ChapelHillNC.
Yesterday, temporary repairs on #BolinCreekTrail were finished and it's open for business!!! WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO
“I gave him a barley sugar sweet, which I had in my pocket, and he went away, licking it. I went off and spoke to a Médecins Sans Frontières doctor, and I felt someone take hold of my hand. It was the boy. It made me feel so bloody guilty.”

The rape and killing of a young woman in Madison County first captivated me as a Duke University student a half century ago. Investigators botched the case, but after decades of research and a recent prison interview, I know who did it.

When Anthonhy Burns was kidnapped in Boston in 1854 under the auspices of the Fugitive Slave Act, thousands of ordinary white and Black Bostonians responded with outrage like this and stormed the jail in an unsuccessful attempt to free him.
Absolutely!!
Picture of a shot late afternoon on the coast with part of the shore being in darkness, waves highlighted and the sky a purple, blue and orange color. Silhouette of buildings in the dark on the right.

Have you tried Lucid?
Picture of an iced latté in a plastic cup on a black grated outdoor table, behind the coffee you can make out a pair of biking gloves - black and florescent yellow.
Two bikes parked by shrubbery facing head-on: the first is dark blue with a helmet hanging from the handlebars; bike two is further back, a light blue, but mostly excluded by the shrubbery, also, a helmet hanging from the handlebars. In the background are some green trees. There is a cement siding where the bikes are parked.
"Another Sunday Morning Coffee Ride"
Only 8 miles, but there were hills. Nice to get a morning ride in, especially for coffee.

One of the things that comes to mind, is incredibly poor leadership with no foresight.
Nice.
