School Tasking is being piloted in Iceland this year 🀩

Hopefully the first of many international versions of the project 🀞🏼

Just back from training a brilliant student team in beautiful ReykjavΓk πŸ’™

We've had more academic misconduct referrals for a single module this year than we had for the whole of the LLB last year.

Higher education is doomed on all fronts.

Whilst I'm promoting small businesses, another shout out for Maisie Parkes (@maisieparkes on Instagram) for making absolutely gorgeous tiny replicas of houses β™₯️

There are so many talented humans out there that shopping on Amazon really does seem completely absurd.

Gail's products really are the most beautiful & high quality items.

The thing in my life I get complimented on the most? My amazing bookshelf phone case πŸ“š

Do check out her website & support her wonderful small business β™₯️

As everyone in the sector knows, Higher Education is in trouble. Funding and time for projects like School Tasking is becoming increasingly scarce and we're being forced to make choices about what we can and cannot fund as the project continues to grow.

Dedicated staff and student teams at universities across the UK and Ireland are the reason that we are able to keep the joy alive, but we really do rely on the support of generous organisations in enabling us to continue reaching some of of the least-advantaged schools across both countries.

With thanks this year to our generous supporters (Addleshaw Goddard, IPO Education - Cracking Ideas, English Heritage and Warwick Law) and to Alex Horne and Avalon Entertainment for last year's raffle that enabled us to roll forward funds into this year. Alex also generously gives up his time each year to run our Champion of Champions Final, which isn't the easiest thing to do when you're the busiest man on the planet.

We're very much in need of additional support to keep the project afloat and would greatly appreciate any sponsor interest. We have a fundraising pack for any interested organisations and we're able to provide comprehensive data on how financial support directly benefits children in less-advantaged schools.

To find out more about School Tasking and how you can get involved, please see our Fundraising Pack here: https://lnkd.in/gWjhQcuQ

And you can see a glimpse of the joy of School Tasking here: https://lnkd.in/g8hA2N6J

Please do reach out to us on schooltasking@warwick.ac.uk if you'd like to find out more about how your organisation could be involved.

And please do share as widely as possible. We'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you

Iceland is, quite simply, a completely wonderful country.

And the best part? I'm getting to go back next week because we're piloting @schooltasking.bsky.social with the University of Iceland (coinciding with the country getting its own version of the show) πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

Will inevitably be seeing the student in a meeting of the Academic Conduct Panel soon then…

The increase in the volume & type of cases recently is depressing indeed.

Novel to get a collusion case these days. Who needs to collude with other humans anymore? πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Last year at BETT 2026 we had the legendary Sir Stephen Fry as our guest #Taskmaster.

This year, it was the turn of the equally legendary Professor Hannah Fry.

Which Fry will it be next year?

Hundreds of staff leave Edinburgh University amid cuts drive According to the university, 345 of these departures were the result of a targeted voluntary severance (VS) scheme run by the institution in 2025.

Missing from the coverage of redundancies at Edinburgh: this was done in such a haphazard, uncoordinated way, there are now core teams who have gone from 5 people to 1 with no change in workload or pressure and huge loss in knowledge of institutional process. www.heraldscotland.com/news/2576321...
