2 Geese going at it this morning. There was a lot of posturing with no contact, just yelling in the other's ear as they establish who gets the mate: #nature #birds #wildlife #spring
Thanks for pointing that out, I missed a key. It was actually a pretty good keyword though... "retail hawk"
A large light colored coyote running down a river bank
I saw a Coyote along the river bank this morning. Two geese were honking loudly, I thought it was at me & I got distracted & there was a Coyote along the bank who tore off running by the time I saw him: #wildlife #coyote #wildlife
Thanks! ๐
It was a slow morning for photos but then I came across this Retail Hawk peeking through the tree limbs, along the Rock River in IL:

Bufflehead, a diving duck from yesterday, Rock River near Sterling Il. I caught the light just right to see some color on his face. These are as small duck that dives for fish and crustrations:

Great Blue Heron yesterday morning, 2 stayed around all winter this year. I believe one is an adult & the other a juvenile:

Great blue heron is a large bird bluish grey color with a large wingspan. I saw one adult and one juvenile along the rock river while drifting in a boat using an R5 with an rf 100-500mm lens.

Its hard to get the settings right, the white vs black. They are usually shy, but this one has been hanging around and letting me drift by. I got better pics of him this morning.

Rock River, but they migrate north from here. You can find some at the lower dam at rock falls.
Out on the rock. It was a bit windy but worth the trouble. Here's a Bufflehead duck from this morning:

Playing with video, this is the one eagle flying toward me last week. There was 4 eagles in all that flew by and put on a show for me. #eagle
The diver ducks hang around in winters and they are the first to migrate through. Some will stick around until about May, but most left the area already or left that area anyway. This was by Sterling IL.
