For leaders of learning it’s about the facilitation of opportunities (the preparations and the being-with) that benefit the clients—the learning group—distilled and succinct.

As I gradually learned by watching and videotaping groups at work (and having faculty colleagues with the same interest), a picture began to emerge of what needed to change as learners evolved. The focus had to be about learning (the inside view) not about teachers.
We have learning we see in ourselves, the inside view, and slow changes we see in others, the outside view. When we try to figure out how to help other people gain new competence and understanding efficiently and profoundly, we find it’s unclear what to do.
Most well-intentioned descriptions of how to teach unrelated to how this somewhat flawed human employee, me, might enhance other people’s experiences, maintain integrity, sustain creativity, and create joy and well-being for a constant flow of unique learners in unique circumstances.
Still, we are employed to do something: how do we plan for what’s next for tomorrow for our learners, always different from those before, living through today’s circumstances, using what we know and can do right now based upon our years of living the content they are supposed to acquire?
Despite everything that has been done or thought, schematics for ‘teaching’ or leading or facilitating remain shapeless and unmarked.
Are we expected to set aside the personal relationships we have with those we are here to benefit? How do we know what they need from us? What do we prepare and open to them at this point in the flow of their experience?
Usually, guides for teachers, such as writing a lesson plan or presenting material in a certain way, fail to regard the current flow of learners we face tomorrow. How do any of us conceive of the framework in which we servant leaders operate? 🧵#EduSky

If we ever get through this crisis caused by authoritarian fascism, we could use clean-up time for children to expect to take initiative to care for themselves, the other, and the community and not simply obey.
We can print and post examples of what we say to students about clean-up.
