Congratulations! 💛
Congratulations! 💛
One of my New Year’s resolutions was to bike-commute for all trips under 4 miles and I’m doing it.
Even with kids extracurriculars on opposite sides of town and every day essentials spread all over, Fort Collins investments in active transportation and bike infrastructure made it possible.
It’s in the 20’s, snow is still on the ground, but we got to get the 7 y/o to cheer practice.
Bonus that parking is right in front of the exit.
That’s our picnic spot! Such a great space for the kids and a beautiful day for a walk.
Snow walk. ⛄️🌨️😍
Fort Collins clears trails before roads.
People who walk, bike, or use a wheelchair aren’t sidelined by weather. Keeping trail access open supports multimodal transportation and helps keep traffic moving under icier conditions.
🚲🤩 Huge thanks to Woom Bikes and @bikebusworld.bsky.social for this generous donation to the Newton Rayzor Bike Bus!
Principal Panter gave it a “test ride” - it’s ready to roll for a lucky student!
🎁Giveaway details for Newton Rayzor's incoming Pre-K and Kindergarten students are coming this fall!
Hey friends of the MCBL: We need your help!
Last week a locked garage that was overflow storage for the library was broken into, bikes taken, & $2,800 in damage done to the garage.
We have insurance on all, but need help w/ deductibles to get rolling.

1. Child seat attached to bike 2. Bike trailer for kids 3. Cargo bike with room for kids
For those who transport kids by bike, which approach did you choose and why?
1. Child seat attached to bike
2. Bike trailer for kids
3. Cargo bike with room for kids
3. We lack connected bike infrastructure. I needed it to replace a 2nd car but hadn't ridden since I was a kid.
An electric longtail made the most sense until it got too tippy with the kids on the back. Now we have a bakfiets-style trike for stability, capacity, and visibility.(Less close passes.)
The color match was sheer luck.
They were gifted to the kids. You can do an Amazon search for "bike helmet cat ears" and a lot of options will come back.
Thanks! We added the ears ourselves 🐱- one on each never seemed to stay.
Over the years, they’ve covered it in stickers - some just for fun, and a few from local businesses they love. Here's the helmet we started with. Lots of fun color options:

Thanks!
For now I am the coolest! Just until we hit those middle school years. 😄
With the right gear, weather is less a barrier.
In downpours, I bike the kids to school under the rain cover. In light rain they wear their gear and bike themselves.
We don’t have many hills, but ebike culture still thrives in hilly cities (SF).
W/ the right setup, riding works in many places.
The kids w/o helmets are the friends - seat-belted in but their Mom forgot helmets this week. It happens. 🤷♀️

Our bike is a second car. We do outings, dates, school runs - it's great.
Right now, @bunchbike.com is running a promo: you might snag a free rental if there’s an owner near you.
Absolutely. On the rare occasion I bring the car for school pick up, I get booed by my kids. 😄
Raised em' right.
My cargo bike CAN where my car CAN’T.
Car: Caps out at 3 kids. I’ve got 2 kids. Hosting more than 1 friend? Nope. 🙅♀️
Bike: Seats 4 kids w/ a 5th on the back. 🤩
The smartest upgrade for us wasn’t a $40k minivan - it was a bike. 🚲💡
#cargobikelife
All great advice! 🙌
I’d just add: make a sick-day plan 🤧
My husband had the car from morning to night, so I still had to bike for school dropoff/pickups. No pedaling—just full throttle on the Bunch with a box of tissues in the console. 😅
Backup plans save you on low-energy days 💪
Very cool! I look forward to watching!
I am so excited to see this! We’re moving to Fort Collins in the Summer!
Denton is really slow to install bike lanes. A substantial contrast to the team in Fort Collins who spoke so much of network connectivity and improvements.
Thanks for the tour! 😄

Coach Balto came with the top quality Bike Bus upgrades: SOUNDBOKS Go speaker, @cleverhood.bsky.social Anorak’s, and a couple of Woom Bikes for the kids!
Thank you, Coach Balto, for generously supporting so many bike buses around the world & recentering kids’ mobility in this movement.

Last week, we had @coachbalto.bsky.social of @bikebusworld.bsky.social on Bike Bus thanks to #woombikes.
It rained but students still showed up to ride for infrastructure with Coach Balto! (And the ☕️/🍩 promised by @bunchbike.com 😄)
We went from a GSD to the Bunch and the difference in comfort and stability is huge.
I do miss the nimbleness of the GSD but my kids will NOT get back on the longtail. 😄
