Who could possibly have predicted that a company whose slogan is "cheat on everything" would cheat?

So there is a story about the "top 10 cities at risk during nuclear war" circulating in various tabloids/etc. with my name attached to it, and I will say that a) I never have (nor would) make such a list at all, and b) I never said any of the quotes attributed to me in the article.
I'm an idiot who saw this artistic rendering and thought someone got a paper accepted claiming they discovered a LIVING dinosaur.
In case you're dumb like me and preparing your letter to the editor... they didn't. It was <1 year old when it died some tens of millions of years ago. Obviously.
I will never understand why beige people wear beige leggings. Is it Donald Duck cosplay? Is it the thrill of causing a jump scare in the airport?
Timeline of NRC application review for Kemmerer Unit 1.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission voted to issue the Construction Permit for TerraPower's first plant in Wyoming. The review was completed well ahead of schedule. This is a very positive step forward. ππ‘ Read our comment here: thebreakthrough.org/press/releas...
Huge congratulations to TerraPower. Consistent, steady engagement with the regulator has paid off with this milestone achievement in the process. We can now say the US is officially building a commercial advanced nuclear reactor right now.
I expect it will be especially challenging to recover such sources in hospitals that have been damaged by strikes.
Indeed. At minimum, we can be confident the Dem turnout for the primaries will be higher than usual, giving fuel to a familiar optimism about the general elections ... The kind of optimism Texas Dems reserve for charismatic gubernatorial upstarts tailor-made to break their hearts.
The correct word for killing a lot of people, destroying a lot of things, spending a lot of resources, and ending up back where things started is "failure." Or if you'll allow two words, "avoidable disaster."
I wasn't on any winners this round as far as I can tell, but I'm SO PROUD of my colleagues at @uofilsystem.bsky.social who were successful, including two Distinguished Early Career awardees, Lorenzo Vergari and Syed Bahauddin Alam!
Grateful to DOE NE for releasing these nuclear energy university research and development awards (as well as the distinguished early career program awards!!).
Yes, they were released a year later than expected, but I'm so glad they weren't just quietly cancelled!

βI see it as the administration exerting political control over what has traditionally been NSFβs ability to fund the best science.β
4 years ago, if you asked what Ukraine would be in 2026, more wouldβve said under Russian subjugation than said free, sovereign over most of its territory, inflicting heavy losses on Russia, and with a world-class drone industry.
The outcome remains uncertain, but the fortitude is very impressive.
Just to be clear. I'm not actually being serious.
It's unclear why the Hulu/HBO AI thinks Bill Maher is similar to Game of Thrones. Having never watched Bill Maher in my life, I'll have to assume his politics wonk show is also full of dragons, epic battles, palace intrigue, incest, murder, and plots to rule the realm.
An HBO banner, with Bill Maher on it, that recommends: "Because you watched Game of Thrones; REAL TIME WITH BILL MAHER". Where's explainable AI when you need it?
That graph theory party trick that mathematically proves everyone really does have more friends than you actually only works if you walk into parties thinking things like "graph theory party trick."
Yeah!
I have the first line:
(If you can't stand upon the water I will see you on the ocean floor)
She has the corresponding line of the next verse:
(If you can't stand upon the earth then I will see you on the other side)

So, I (along with my twin sister) have a tattoo of lyrics from The Lost Souls. Somehow, even though it is physically on my body, I haven't listened to this album for years. Thanks for reminding me to take a moment!

And even capital offenses deserve due process.
This nice clear summary from John Fabian at @americannuclear.bsky.social on the last few years of shifting nuclear energy policy in Illinois is going straight into next week's reading list for my undergrad nuclear power economics and fuel cycle class! www.ans.org/news/2026-02...

If Congress doesnβt act, the last nuclear arms control treaty between the U.S. and Russia will expire. It would pointlessly wipe out decades of diplomacy, and could spark another arms race that makes the world less safe. This piece is worth the read.
My favorite burrito truck guy gave me a free horchata today. The juxtaposition against the state of the world was just too much.
I nearly wept right there in the burrito line.
