About *a third* of global fossil fuel CO2 emissions emitted during the Industrial age have occurred in roughly the last 17 years. The previous third was emitted over a period of roughly 26 years. The first third was emitted over a period of about 131 years.
I’ve been helping newcomers in public libraries for 20 years and these are two things I know: moving to Canada as an immigrant or refugee is a lot of paperwork and even more emotional labour. Also immigrants and refugees make our cities more interesting and excellent places.
I wonder if some politicians support harmful antivax policies just to put another nail in the coffin of expertise?
If experts are ‘another opinion’ then governments can do whatever and are the only authority.
Also true: those who support democracy, support expertise.

As we can see, there are competing trends, with the NUMBER of fires generally declining over the last four decades, as the BURN AREA generally increasing over this time. A real climate signal if you ask me.
The # of discrete fires divided into the burn area for each year shows the average size of individual fires has increased substantially over the last 4 decades.

Ontario is now reporting 440 measles cases in 2025 so far, compared to 64 in 2024, and 101 between 2013 and 2023.
The vast majority of infections are in unvaccinated individuals.
The measles vaccine is free, widely available, highly effective and backed by decades of safety data.
