I love watching the Olympics but usually don't enjoy figure skating, gymnastics, and other sports that sacrifice girls to The Flag, but this... this was just joyful to watch.
Every song that comes to mind that fits that category is either 1) still really adorable and/or 2) written in the middle of Thing-a-Week panic. I hope any dislike stems from something else I'm not aware of.

100%. Before his skate I kept thinking that if another country made a cliched figure skating movie about a fictional scrappy underdog, he could be the exact personage of the villain. Then we saw his humanity in a big way.
The terrible nationalistic coverage here often leads me to root *against* Team USA and even I was left heartbroken. Just a reminder of how hard it is to execute in the biggest moments, even when you're the best.

Like 75% of the US Olympic curlers are from Minnesota. A lot of them curl out of two clubs in Saint Paul, one club is in Frogtown, a neighborhood that has been very heavily targeted by ICE. These curlers are good neighbors.
